U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola has defeated Republicans Sarah Palin and Nick Begich to retain her seat in the U.S. House.

After three rounds of ranked-choice tabulation on Nov. 23, Peltola beat Palin 136,893 votes to 112,255 votes.

Under Alaska’s new ranked choice voting system, the candidate with the fewest votes was eliminated in the first round of tabulation and his second-place votes were redistributed as first place votes to the remaining candidates. The first candidate to be eliminated was Chris Bye, followed by Nick Begich.

With the win, Peltola retains her seat in the U.S. House, which she won earlier this year in a special election to replace the late Congressman Don Young.

Did Peltola win with the same 20,000 vote Murkowski won with? now it’s looking fishy.

    • Now We Are Two says:

This doesn’t look fishy at all to me. Until conservatives can stop their silly pride and “rank the red” we will keep losing. Look, I hate the showboat Palin, but I can grit my teeth and vote her #2. How really hard is it? Until we can work together and stop being so ideological we can never win. Because libs know how to vote: they just rank “not red”.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

I say that it looked fishy from the beginning that Peltola went from way behind to way ahead. I wonder how much FTX money she received?

      • Clark says:

FOH, Do You still not understand that same day voting favors republicans and absentee/mail-in voting favors Democrats? They are all legal votes. They just don’t get counted at the same time. This is not hard to understand. Has there been any evidence of fraud presented or even alleged in AK? No? Well there you go. Murkowski and Peltola were just better candidates. People elected them by a pretty wide margin! I predicted Peltola would gain votes compared to 3 months ago, because Dems would be more energized and likely to vote since she won b4. I was right.

  • Steve Lankerd says:

We need a revote but done the old way… RCV needs to go away….

    • Now We Are Two says:

No, we need to RANK THE RED. How hard is it to vote Palin or Begich for #2? Why are conservatives so ideologically suborn and stupid? Now we are basically a blue state, since Lisa is as blue as it gets. This simply couldn’t happen if conservatives could just swallow their pride and select a conservative #2!

      • Craig says:

True. And now we have Dan Sulivan showing his true colors by voting along with democrats against life. He’s for family values, alight; “ You just gotta make it out of the womb and then I’ll be happy to support and represent you. Til then you’re on your own.” He’s got to go.

And RCV has got to go. And soon. Right now while this election is fresh in everybody’s minds we need to get it passed through legislature and have a special election, if that’s possible. Don’t care what it costs; more money than that has been spent on things of lesser importance. I was told there are bills in the house and senate right now that will remove it. Let’s bombard our legislators with emails and calls.

Hi Now We Are Two, We do not need to “rank the red”. We need to stop reciting pithy phrases and rank the candidates in the order we want. I know many Republicans (and disgusted former Republicans) who voted for Begich first and Peltola second. Palin is not a serious person and doesn’t warrant consideration. I offer for your education: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71LLA0w8Apc

Sarah Palin is not fit for office, she is not fit for motherhood, she is not mentally healthy.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

I agree Steve Lankerd! One person, one vote, one day to vote and counts done by the end of the day, paper ballots and hand counting. You can always tell who the lefties are because they say that rcv is fair and that people just need to learn how to use it. RCV is a manipulation tool for the lefties and I have not interest in learning how to manipulate and cheat to achieve victory.

      • Clark says:

FOH…I suspect the ONLY reason you are saying any of that drivel is because you are just mad your side lost. If your side had won, you would be gloating and bragging about ‘owning the libs’. Its OK to tell the truth. You are bitter about RCV Because you want extreme candidates and the people of Alaska don’t. In most of the rest of the country, republicans got their butts kicked. They dont use RCV and they still lost. The Rep party is so dismally unpopular atm that they almost completely failed to retake the house, and they are probably going to actually LOOSE another senate seat! With sky high gas, high inflation, world turmoil going on, a pandemic, crime going up, and low approval ratings, the American people STILL chose Democrats all across the board.

In this election, if only the FIRST vote had been counted, Peltola and Murkowski would have STILL won. They BOTH had the most votes b4 ranked choice was applied.

The problem for your side isn’t that conservatives need to swallow their pride. It’s that they DID swallow their pride and moved on from the extremist republican platform and Trumpism.

Alaskans are fortunate to have a representative with civility, integrity and honesty!! What a change!

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Alaskans have been so unfortunate to be lethargic while the globalists placed their systems in our great last frontier. Now we have representatives who are only there to achieve the globalist agenda of taking over, breaking down society, and depopulation. Welcome to the Mad Max world. Welcome to 1984 and The Brave New World.

  • Steve Peterson says:

She is a lame duck from the beginning. A junior Democrat representative in a Republican majority Congress.
As for integrity, she has zero. Count her last names and see how loyal and stabile she is. And as for civility, she is all on board for tearing an unborn, living human being apart. Nope, she is a nothing. A fluke of RCV.

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Amen Steve Peterson. I cannot believe that people just sat by and let her daddy put her in his seat way back when. There should have been an outcry to have that vacant seat go up for election. Alaskans have been hypnotized by oil money and the left took advantage of this.

  • Ryan Nelson says:

Y’all, Palin is just a bad candidate. How hard of a pill is that for all of you guys to swallows.

    • Now We Are Two says:

Yes, Palin is a bad candidate. But RCV is set up for exactly this kind of problem. Why can’t Begich voters (I’m one myself) just put Palin as #2? We would thus not be blue right now. I would rather have Palin. She’s not that bad. And any conservative would have to agree with that.

      • Truth Network says:

Hi Now We Are Two, because many Republicans *do not want* Sarah Palin to represent their state. They *prefer* Peltola to Palin.

RCV isn’t hard. It’s not confusing. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. It’s a testament to Alaskans that they picked Peltola over Palin.

  • Friend of Humanity says:

Wow, there already is a lot of lefty trolls on this board and the conversation has only started. I hope that Tshibaka and Palin take a stand against these results. Begich, it is too bad that you just had to throw the election. I hope that people understand what you did and never vote for you again. Well, maybe now that you did what the globalists wanted you to do, you will back out of politics?

  • Now We Are Two says:

If you look at polling (or just ask around) you can see the election was (sadly) pretty accurate under RCV rules. Why can’t you Palin folk just rank the red and with Begich #2? He is better than going blue! It’s dumb and stubborn conservatives who have messed this election up, and to the detriment to AK. RANK THE RED.

    • Ceak says:

palin voters didn’t have their #2 votes come into play. It was Begich #2 votes that pushed Peltola to victory, because not enough of them ranked Palin #2 after he was eliminated.

      • Now We Are Two says:

        There were 4 candidates.
The first round Petola wins. Palin gets #2. #4 eliminated.
Round 2 Palin would have won easy had Begich voters just put her as #2.
        It’s really not complicated.

  • Trained Observer says:

There is really only one way to see it now. Alaska is being represented in Congress by 3 liberal delegates; one by name and the other two by substance. At this point, the GOP can only go up from here, but the ARP is tone deaf, out of touch and lacks the wherewithal within its membership to be effective. I am surrendering my membership of the ARP and changing my affiliation to Independent. If my vote is not going to count, then it may as well not count in support of ideology over party.

  • Kasey says:

Had there not been ranked choice, Palin would have won. Had it not been for ranked choice, Kelly would have won. And we’d be sending TWO conservatives to congress, instead of two democrats that never had the majority of the votes.

  • Craig says:

Ranked choice only benefits democrats because it lets them still get a rino in office when they’re own lib policies won’t garner the votes. It’d never benefit/work for republicans because there aren’t any “dinos” out there. Maybe anywhere.

  • Matthew myers says:

It just came down to stupid, gullible voters, outside money, and two Republicrats that split the vote.

    • Now We Are Two says:

No. “It all came down” to conservative Begich voters being too dang proud/stubborn to vote for Palin.
It’s simple: Round 1: Petola, Palin #2, #4 eliminated. Round 2: Palin wins easy IF Begich voters just put her as #2. Do the math.
And had Begich got #2, the same silly thing would have probably happened: Palin voters too stubborn to put Begich as #2. We conservative voters deserve to lose if we can’t chose #2 for the other conservative. Yes liberals are evil but they aren’t stupid like this. They just vote in whatever way they can get conservatives to lose.
