Alaska Family Council has just released its “Values Voter Guide” for the Nov. 4 Mat-Su Borough election with early voting now underway.

The voter guide asked all candidates for Borough Assembly and School Board to weigh in hot-button cultural issues that deal with free speech, DEI, critical race theory, parental rights, taxation, marijuana, abortion, LGBTQ policies, sex-specific bathrooms and more.

Five of the 10 candidates vying for local office answered the questions. As is typical of these voter guides, the left-leaning candidates – Michelle Heun, Stephanie Nowers and Gage Saxton declined to share their views. Additionally, two other candidates, who are conservatives, did not participate – Brooks Pitcher and Michael Bowles.

Bowles, however, describes himself as “unapologetically” conservative, while Pitcher has a school board voting record that is clearly pro-school choice, strongly supportive of parental rights and opposed to the radical LGBTQ agenda in local schools.

Michael Bowles is THE conservative in District 1. I totally support him as he represents my values and principles.

I had an interesting discussion with a Cannabis store owner, and the topic of on site consumption came up. He was opposed to on site consumption (Smoking) on site like as if a bar, unless there was a way to ensure the person smoking could get home without driving themselves. He had good ideas, contracts with Cab Companies, or shuttle provided by the shop. He was more concerned about the safety of other drivers and the person consuming the Cannabis as well. To be fair, which some bars had this attitude. Way too many drunk drivers on the road

This is hilarious that only 3 people, including you DAVE, replied to this article. Not too much traction.

This is such a phenomenal, wonderful idea! Very thankful for the effort, time, energy and commitment it took to create this voting guide. Love the title! Also, what a wonderful way for like minded businesses and individuals to get involved with supplying them, advertising in them, adding other contributions. Again, excellent work !
