A group of Satanists was among the many political and social activists that were approved by Anchorage Pride Parade organizers to march in the June 29 event through downtown Anchorage.

Marching under a large banner of The Satanic Temple, roughly 10 people joined drag queens, abortion activists and LGBTQ political agitators in parading through the city. Organized by Alaskans Together For Equality, the parade entailed about 50 groups – including corporate businesses, government agencies and a host of nonprofits.

The Satanists wore black shirts emblazoned with The Satanic Temple logo of a goat-headed hermaphrodite known as the occult deity Baphomet. They carried signs stating:

— “God made me Gay; Satan made me fabulous.”

— “ONES BODY IS INVIOLABLLE, subject to ones will ALONE!”

— “Hail Satan.”

— “Raise Hell for Equality.”

While this may be the first time Satanists have openly participated in an Anchorage parade, it is not the group’s first foray into Alaska’s public life. Prior to last year, professed Satanist Iris Fontana periodically opened Kenai Borough Assembly meetings with a “Hail Satan” invocation. This practice drew national media attention when the Alaska Supreme Court ruled that the Kenai Borough couldn’t exclude Satan “prayers” so long as the invocations were offered by local volunteers.

In response to this ruling, the borough passed a resolution last year to ensure all its invocations would be offered exclusively by professional borough chaplains.

While The Satanic Temple does not affirm belief in an actual being named Satan, the group does use Satan as a metaphor for the “ultimate rebel” to promote abortion and the LGBTQ agenda. It also attempts to turn public prayers into farcical and absurd moments by calling on Satan to guide public officials in their public service work. Additionally, the national group is responsible for hosting After School Satan Clubs in public schools.

Founded in 2013 as an alternative to the Church of Satan, the group sees itself as a “real world relevant organization” that seeks to mainstream Satan, while undermining belief in God or the supernatural.

One of the benefits of being an atheist is not squabbling over invisible impossible beings.

  • Reggie Taylor says:

Do you consider evil to be “invisible” or “impossible”?

    • Jeff Butlerton says:

“Beings” Reggie, physical entities called, in this case, god and satan. I think the word “evil” is religious so I’ll substitute a much weaker and more general term — bad behavior – balanced by good behavior.

How bad and how good a behavior is, is determined by humans and it’s all over the map.

“………I think the word “evil” is religious……..”
Yeah, you can substitute the word “evil” with “Satan”, and substitute the word “love” with the word “God”. Those are religious recognitions that you appear to reject. You prefer “bad/good behavior”, as if marching in a parade celebrating Satan was good or neutral behavior.

No surprise that they are sponsored by the LGBTQ and beastiality communities.

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Who better for them to promote than Satan? We are sick of them trying to claim God made that way. Let them now tell the truth of whom they serve.

All you opposed- America’s first amendment says people have freedom of speech. You can state any thing you want, just like the Satanists.

    • Tree Leaf says:

But does it speak well for civilization to have sexual deviants and worshippers of Satan to be parading through our streets, championing license instead of liberty, idolatry instead of altruism?

Reggie. If a thing (satan) doesn’t and can’t exist, who cares about the parade marchers. Religionists like them and you believe things without evidence. That’s dangerous.
