From the North Slope to Juneau, Alaska children are exposed to thousands of sexually explicit books in public school libraries. This is the finding from Capitol Resource Institute, a national parental rights organization that systematically tracks sexually graphic books in school libraries across all 50 states.
Several years ago, the California-based nonprofit launched TakeBacktheClassroom.com to help inform, equip and guide parents through the ongoing battle to remove obscene and pornographic books that expose children to topics such as bondage, anal sex, pederasty, sexual orientation and gender fluidity.
For Alaska, the website lists 14 school districts that contain 1,611 controversial books across more than 80 separate schools. This includes districts in Fairbanks, Juneau, North Slope, Kenai, Cordova, Valdez, Haines, Unalaska, Galena, Hoonah, Annette Island, Aleutians, Craig and Klawock. Three other districts – Lake and Peninsula, Kuspuk and Bristol Bay – are listed but it appears they have removed their controversial books.
Despite ongoing efforts by parents to remove these books, they remain present in scores of publicly funded Alaska schools – promoting radical sexual ideologies to thousands of impressionable children.
The TakeBacktheClassroom.com website notes that the book lists are constantly being updated as new information becomes available.

To empower parents, the organization has created an essential resource which is called the “Step-by-Step guide to Remove Porn in Schools.” This is available free of charge at TakeBacktheClassroom.com where parents and concerned citizens can identify specific schools and work to remove controversial books. The website includes information regarding the legal parameters by which citizens can file challenges or reconsideration requests, as well as strategies to form coalitions with like-minded parents and others who are willing to join the fight.
