The mayoral run-off election between incumbent conservative Mayor Dave Bronson and left-leaning challenger Suzanne LaFrance is shaping up to be a pivotal moment in the history of Anchorage politics.

A Bronson victory would ensure a check to the liberal supermajority on the Anchorage Assembly, while a LaFrance win would consolidate power among the cultural and social left.

Three Anchorage Vote Centers will be open for in-person voting from May 7-14. Those who come by can vote in person, replace lost or damaged ballots, get a ballot if they did not receive one in the mail, drop off a completed ballot or request voter assistance and other services.

Vote centers, which can be found here, are located at Anchorage City Hall, Loussac Library, and Eagle River Town Center. They will be open the following days and hours:

— Weekdays, May 7 – May 13, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

— Saturday, May 11, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

— Election Day, May 14, 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Those who have questions call the Voter Hotline at 907-243-8683 or send an email to elections@anchorageak.gov. The deadline to call in and request a replacement ballot is May 7 at 5:00 p.m. To learn more about voting options, visit muni.org/elections.

Anchorage wake up. Again you can’t complain if you don’t get out and vote. If not you’re going down the drain with your assembly. Breaking news Alaska’s largest city change’s its name to Portland 2.0.

  • Friend of Humanity says:

Like someone else had stated, Anchorage folks, if you have not received your ballot, call Elections and tell them. Find out how you go vote in person and GO VOTE. Bronson needs to be re-elected if Anchorage is going to see any semblance of being a sane city.

    Praying for Anchorage

  • Steve P Peterson says:

Never underestimate the ability of the left in Anchorage to mobilize the vote for their candidate and for the right in Anchorage (which should be the majority) to stay at home and hope for the best.
As a Peninsula resident, I wouldn’t care much about this race, but crap flows downhill and affects the rest of Alaska, especially since half of Anchorage comes down here and brings city culture with them. Also, I remember the Anchorage of the 60s and 70s and what a great place it was to live in then… as compared to what a cesspool of leftism it has become.

Dave Bronson is clearly the sane choice in this election. LaFrance’s reckless misspending and an ‘absolutist’ government that would choke the life out of any fair and equitable debate for ALL parties. This is not a partisan issue..it’s about her narrow self-serving interest over that of the majority. Don’t be fooled. Bronson is a reasonable man who cares about the future of this great city. Don’t squander responsible advancements that benefit ALL of the people, by losing sight of the singular sef serving agenda of a woman who has proven to be out of touch time and again.
