The federal taxpayers’ money that poured into Alaska following the recent Juneau flooding begs a question: Is there anything in the U.S. Constitution that allows Congress to tax one American (or print and borrow currency) and give that money to another American because they are suffering?

No. See the famous Davey Crockett story.

While those Southeast waters rapidly subsided, the flood of invaders on the Southern border seems unrelenting. Where is the frantic effort to stem that tide?

In terms of priorities and importance, is it really the right of Congress to take taxpayers’ money and dole it out for flood victims around the country? No, it is not. That is the work of private and personal giving, as Davey Crockett so aptly observed.

According to the U.S. Constitution (Article 1, Section 8), Congress does have authority to protect our borders. However, by focusing on problems like regional flooding and ignoring illegal invasion, Congress is aiding and abetting the crisis at the Southern border.

The constitutional priority should be to preserve our natural sovereignty and the very survival of the nation. In fact, this is among the highest priorities, and one that requires us to control our borders. If we fail to do so, others will.

As things stand today, our border is being overrun by outside forces, while our government stands down, watching what Barrack Obama coined the “fundamental transformation of America.” This is treason. Congress needs to get its priorities straight, and act accordingly.

Any Congressman can say, “I support the military,” but failure to defend our border weakens the very nation our soldiers are charged with defending. That’s a false and empty patriotism.

Of all of the Watchman articles I have read this one actually makes the most sense. As a Labor Democrat I strongly agree with the author. Most of what I read in Watchman is utter nonsense but this is not. Government needs to defend the US, not get embroiled in Israeli intrigues and subsidies and stay out of marital and family planning rights.

Is killing babies in or out of the womb still considered “family planning” in your world?

a nation without borders is not a nation.

We have to build the wall, stop the DHS from flying them directly in, eliminate the CBP1 app that Mayorkas created illegally, and deport every single last illegal alien that violated our national sovereignty. We have to have a national mandatory E-Verify with high penalties for employers and we have to eliminate birth right citizenship and family chain migration.

By the way Javier Becerra who heads the Health and Human Services Department has lost track of hundreds of thousands of children that were sent across our border by the Mexican cartels. This requires a major investigation. If you suspect the worst, you are probably right.

Thank you for highlighting this critical issue. The border was unsecured well before 2016 when Trump campaigned on securing our border. Congress has failed us for over a decade on their fundamental responsibility, even when Trump was taking all the attacks from the left. We need to identify our domestic enemies and remove them from office.
