In the November 5th elections, voters overwhelmingly elected Donald Trump, giving him a mandate. Unfortunately, in Alaska, this conservative mandate was squandered by the RINO Republican legislators in Juneau. Despite voters giving them majorities in both bodies of our state legislature, RINOs chose to exclude their most conservative members and made alliances with the Democrats to form left-leaning governing caucuses. These alliances thwart the will of the people and spit in the face of the Trump-inspired conservative movement sweeping this country.
In past years, there was little voters could have done about these actions. Maybe it was divine providence, but since the Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) repeal initiative failed, RCV gives us a unique tool to use against the Democrats and their Vichy Republican collaborators to regain control of our State Legislature. I’m talking about weaponizing ranked-choice voting (RCV) against some incumbents in Juneau who have betrayed the voters.
I have described this tactic in previous posts here and here. The short version is that politicians who betray our trust can be defeated using a unique feature of RCV. This voting system permits multiple candidates of the same party to run against each other in the general election. Suppose we do this intentionally against a targeted incumbent politician. In that case, we can dilute the votes the targeted candidate receives, potentially causing them to lose reelection.
Using this tactic, it might be possible to remove some Democrat and RINO Republican incumbents from office and send a loud and clear message to those who remain on what the expectations of the voters are. However, to be effective, we need to identify the legislative members who would be most vulnerable and focus on them. Below is a list of legislators in the upcoming 34th Alaska Legislature who could be defeated the next time they run for office using this strategy.
This table shows that in their last elections, 5 Democrats in the State House and 4 Democrats in the
Senate won reelection by slim margins and perhaps could be defeated by running multiple opponents against them in their next reelection races. It also shows Republicans who have joined with the Democrat caucus in each house. These RINOs also deserve to be targeted with this tactic as a punitive measure for their betrayal of conservatives. If we could defeat just a few of these individuals, it could return the Legislature to conservative governance. It would also send a clear message to the remaining members about voters’ expectations.
So, how do we implement this tactic? We could sit back and wait for the Republican party to do something but don’t hold your breath. Although the Republican party in Alaska is supposedly under new management, Alaska Republicans have long been a pretty impotent group.
No punitive actions were taken against the Republican members of the State Senate who betrayed the GOP in the last session when they joined with Democrats. There is no reason to have confidence that the state GOP will be more effective now. Until they find a way to police their own caucus, most Republicans in Juneau deserve the complete derision of every conservative Alaskan voter.
If the GOP won’t act, what can we do? There is a pretty clear plan forward that an individual can make if we choose to take it, and we do not have to wait for the Alaska GOP to do anything. RCV empowers each person with a unique opportunity to act on their own initiative.
ALASKA WATCHMAN DIRECT TO YOUR INBOX
If you are a conservative who lives in one of the State House or Senate Districts shown on the chart above, you can run in the next election against your feckless RINO or Democrat representative or senator.
I don’t mean you should spend a bunch of money in an attempt to win. No, we need multiple people to run, stealing votes from the incumbent, impacting their reelection chances, and possibly resulting in their defeat. With one simple action on your part, you could help defeat these individuals and take back control of our legislature, and it is not as big a deal as you might imagine.
It only takes $30.00 to enter to run for the state house or senate in Alaska, and it can be done online. It is quicker and easier to file to run for a state office than to apply for a moose hunt drawing permit online.
So, gather some friends; everyone should file to run and consider it a campaign donation. The more people that file, the more effective this tactic will be. The filing deadline for the 2026 election will be in June 2026, so you have plenty of time to prepare.
Alaska GOP Chairman Carmella Warfield needs to read this article, as do the representatives and senators shown in Table 1 above.
They need to get the message that the time for screwing around is over. It is time to advance the Trump agenda and take back our country from the communists, child groomers, wasteful spenders, and idiots in the Democrat party. There is a new Republican party forming in America, and we have no interest in collaborating with Democrats anymore. Welcome to the new Right.
