Do you have a plan for how to survive earthquakes, wildfires, cold water accidents, backcountry emergencies and other disasters?

The 17th Annual Mat-Su Emergency Preparedness Expo aims to give residents the tools they need to navigate crisis situations, unique to Alaska.

Set for Sept. 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the expo will take place at the Menard Sports Center (1001 S Clapp Street, Wasilla).

This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and will feature over 90 indoor and outdoor exhibitors, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations focused on emergency readiness.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and other emergencies. Highlights of the event include:

— Free Boat Safety Inspections by the Coast Guard Auxiliary

— Earthquake Escape Room Activity – test your preparedness knowledge in a timed challenge

— Earthquake Simulator – experience the impact of a quake in a safe, educational setting

— Hands-only CPR, First Aid, and Backcountry Safety Training

— Emergency Preparedness Supplies available for purchase

— 8 Interactive Presentations covering topics such as pet emergency kits, water safety, and wilderness survival (schedule available on the Facebook event and website)

— Youth Poster Contest, Door Prizes, and Live Demonstrations

— Six Food Trucks offering a variety of local fare
