Attendees listen to a presentation during the 2025 School Choice Expo in Anchorage.

The upcoming School Choice Expo in Anchorage is all about giving Alaska parents the full slate of options available to maximize the educational experience of their children.

This includes charter schools, private education, faith-based options, online and blended learning, homeschooling, nontraditional schooling and standard public education. The Jan. 31 event in Anchorage will include representatives from all these fields to answer questions.

While the vast majority of Alaska children still attend traditional brick-and-mortar public schools, the landscape is rapidly changing, especially with the rapid rise in home education, charter school enrollment and private educational options.

The expo, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, will give parents the options to compare and contrast these choices all in one place, while exploring what each one offers.

Hosted by the Alaska School Choice nonprofit in collaboration with the National School Choice Awareness Foundation, the expo is family-friendly, free to attend and will include complimentary refreshments, prizes, face painting and balloon artists for kids. Expo attendees are encouraged to RSVP.

School choice is important for sure but look at the studies and presentation and along with who will teach. There is a big difference in teaching to mimic. The best advantage in great teaching is to teach them to think and visualize and work with the best standard of memorizing the right ,material.
