Alaska Family Council was privileged to join other pro-family groups across the nation in submitting a letter today to President Trump and other DC leaders to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used to fund abortions. Please pray that as the U.S Senate contemplates this critical public policy, innocent unborn life will be protected.
BELOW IS THE LETTER TO TRUMP
Dear President Trump, Vice President Vance, Majority Leader Thune, and Speaker Johnson:
As you know, many in our movement have gratefully referred to you, Mr. President, as “the most pro-life president in American history.”
Your executive order of January 24, 2025, “Enforcing the Hyde Amendment,” is one reason why. “For nearly five decades, the Congress has annually enacted the Hyde Amendment and similar laws that prevent Federal funding of elective abortion, reflecting a longstanding consensus that American taxpayers should not be forced to pay for that practice,” you declared.
We write to each of you to express our concern that any flexibility on the Hyde Amendment could involve relaxed eligibility verification or oversight, leading to increased waste, fraud, and abuse – the very problems that are now plaguing taxpayers in Minnesota and elsewhere.
This massive welfare fraud serves as a direct cautionary tale against extending ACA subsidies without fixing the program’s structural flaws and demanding strict oversight around deceased enrollees, phantom SSNs, and zero-claim “ghost” enrollees.
Whether through expanded federal dollars in higher education – which have fueled wokeness and an America-last ideology – or through federal spending in healthcare, particularly via the Affordable Care Act, which has driven skyrocketing costs for Americans, the results are the same. COVID-era healthcare subsidies and stimulus further empowered the healthcare-industrial complex to engage in social engineering rather than patient-centered care. These examples illustrate what occurs when federal dollars expand into new arenas, creating opportunities for bad actors – particularly in healthcare. For this reason, fiscal conservatives should be just as concerned as social conservatives.
We appreciate your leadership on pro-life issues, Mr. President, and your recent executive action demanding oversight in Minnesota. We urge you to hold firm so that it remains, as you said in your Hyde executive order, “the policy of the United States, consistent with the Hyde Amendment, to end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote
elective abortion.”
We pledge to all of you that we will do our part to strongly encourage and hold accountable the members of Congress who are undermining your excellent track records on life, and we stand ready to serve you to this end.
Thank you again for your leadership. Our prayers are with you.

My hard earned money should not go to the destruction of God’s creations and my personal opinion anyone that aborts a baby should also be charged with murder. Life is to precious to just throw away in a garbage can.
Do you think WOMEN who terminate an unwanted pregnancy should be thrown in jail … or worse?
-Wait a minute – eligibility verification? Waste, fraud and abuse? WHAT ABOUT THE BABIES?! This letter is introduced as a noble pursuit in the defense of the unborn, but it is nothing if the sort! Draw the parallel between Minnesota fraud and Medicaid fraud if you must, but for heaven’s sake, Jim, don’t be afraid to called out Planned Parenthood by name -because they are the largest facilitators of fraud when it comes to federal funds- and, even more for heaven’s sake, don’t leave out THE BABIES in your plea! THEY are the reason there should be 0 “flexibility” on Hyde!
So your argument for not funding the slaughter of children is that it could lead to Somali migrants scamming Minnesotans more easily? This letter is a joke.
Keep on the track to help end funding. Some of the bills passing through congress has the funding and hopefully, this will help the deterrence.
While Trump won’t hesitate to repeat all the anti-abortion talking points for the sake of keeping his base happy, anyone who has followed his career knows that the issue simply isn’t that important to him. And he’s pragmatic enough to know that banning mifepristone would hurt the GOP even more in the midterms. Of course, don’t be surprised if he declares martial law ahead of the midterms.
Statesmanship over political expediency is what we need, everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
The government has the responsibility before God and man to punish the guilty, and protect the innocent.
When and where do we as a country say to murderers, “You can’t murder with the government money but you can murder with your own money? Why are we showing partiality to mass murderers who are self funded?
We must repent of our apathy, cry bitterly unto God, and return our laws to reflect justice, mercy, and equality for all.
Be not content with DEFUNDing murder.
How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Psalm 82:2
DEFEND the Innocent!!!
PROSECUTE murderers!!!
Call for Justice, correct oppression, bring Justice to the fatherless preborn. This is what God commands of us. (Isaiah 1:17, Micah 6:8)
