Santa and his reindeer are headed to a family friendly holiday event in the Mat-Su next month.

More than 20 businesses are participating in the pre-Christmas gathering at Creekside Plaza (1830 Parks Hwy.) in Wasilla. The event includes a chance to chat with St. Nick and even take a ride with his legendary reindeer.

The 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. gathering on Dec. 5 will promote local merchants while also helping out the Toys for Tots program which aims to provide toys for children in need this holiday season.

Attendees can bring unwrapped toys to donate to Toys for Tots, an official mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve since 1947. The program provides Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community as well as a message of hope to assist them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.

Participating businesses include Alaska Midnite Scents, Café Khao Neow, Cold Stone Creamery, Great Northern Knives, House of Bread, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Northern Comfort Shoes, PJ’s Crafty Corner, The Tanning Hut, Treeforms Amish Furnature and many more.
