Dave Bronson has yet again expanded his lead over Forrest Dunbar in the Anchorage mayoral runoff election, and now leads by 1,212 votes with roughly 2,000 left to count.
The latest numbers released May 18 by the Anchorage elections office show Bronson with 45,421 votes (50.68%) to Dunbar’s 44,209 votes (49.32%).
A total 89,630 Anchorage voters have cast ballots. That’s nearly 38% of all registered voters.
After trailing by 114 votes on election night, Bronson has surpassed Dunbar in each new tally of the votes. His lead of 1.36% is well beyond the 0.5% that would have triggered an automatic recount.
While Dunbar has not officially conceded the race, his camp has a very different mood than the Bronson camp. Dunbar has acknowledged that it does not appear he can win, while Bronson has been making statements about moving Anchorage forward in a new direction, post election.

When is the official count going to end? It’s looking like Republicans will try to straighten out Anchorage again. Congratulations Mayor Bronson.
the official count won’t end until Dunbar is in the lead. I’m sure someone will discovery a box of ballots somewhere pretty soon.
One can only hope. Unless he does what dunlevy did and goes RHINO on ya.
—-It took decades for the Democrats of Alaska to inch Alaskans over into mediocracy and
dependency. Its going to take Real Republicans to inch Alaskans back over into self sufficiency and independence like great grandma and great grandpa. We saw what happened when Dunleavy unveiled his very Republican 2019 budget proposal. Just the mere shock would had killed dependent mediocre Alaskans than the heart attack. Hahaha Bronson and Dunleavy gotta drive with the emergency break up until the people can handle the full throttle.
When will this election be certified??
25th. Waiting for overseas votes
Anchorage Voters know need to take out the Assembly members that have driven the Muni into the ground in a few short years.
Absolutely!
Disappointing that only 38% of voters care enough to cast a ballot.
I believe that is actually a record turnout.
Yay Anchorage! Thanks to all of you who voted to end the Leftist ooze which has crept in. Don’t let down your guard though as there’s much work to yet be done. Get involved wherever you can to keep the momentum going.
why can’t those who are overseas get their ballots earlier so that the winners can be announced much sooner. there is no reason to have to delay announcing the winner
