A grassroots movement led by more than 700 Alaskan volunteers has successfully gathered nearly 43,000 signatures, significantly exceeding the required 26,000, to propose the removal of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in Alaska.

Due to the fact that some signatures may be disqualified, the goal of Alaskans for Honest Elections was to turn in more than enough names to the Division of Elections for review and approval.

Phil Izon

“This is not just a collection of signatures, but a profound statement by the people of Alaska,” said Phil Izon, a lead organizer of Alaskans for Honest Elections – the group behind the repeal effort. “Our volunteers, all Alaskans, have voiced their concerns and desires through this campaign. We’ve surpassed the number of signatures the pro-RCV group initially gathered to introduce RCV, underlining a growing skepticism and desire for change among the electorate.”

Izon emphasized that the repeal effort is grassroots, unlike the well-heeled pro-ranked-choice voting group, Alaskans for Better Elections, which he blasted as primarily funded by out-of-state groups who are meddling with Alaska elections.

“Our success was driven by Alaskans, for Alaskans,” Izon noted. “We did not need to fly in people or spend millions. Our strength came from the genuine support and hard work of our volunteers.”

This initiative represents a significant challenge to RCV, a system that has been increasingly scrutinized for its complexity and the perception that it obscures the straightforward principle of “one person, one vote.”

Repeal organizers believe their successful petition drive will resonate beyond Alaska, and serve as a warning for other states considering RCV.

“We stand for the Alaskans who felt misled, for those who found the RCV ballot confusing, and for everyone who believes in the sanctity of the straightforward voting process,” Izon added. “Our message is clear: it’s time to remove Ranked Choice Voting from our state. ‘Let’s Take Out The Trash, Let’s Rid The Rank’ is more than a slogan; it’s a call to action for all Alaskans who value transparency and simplicity in their electoral system.”

The submitted signatures will now undergo verification by state officials. If validated, this will pave the way for a ballot measure to appear before Alaskans in November, when voters can make the final determination on whether to ditch ranked-choice voting.

“We did this for you, for every Alaskan who wants their vote to count in the most direct and understandable way,” Izon said. “We urge all Alaskans to stand with us and vote to remove Rank Choice Voting. Together, we can ensure our electoral system reflects the true will of the people.”

If RCV had worked in your favor instead of against in recent elections, you’d be all for it.

    • Elizabeth Henry says:

Wrong. I have never been for it, voted against it, before it was ever used. It was promoted by misinformation and dishonesty. It isn’t voting. It is tantamount to a slot machine. Voting is one vote for one candidate. Appropriately named Rigged Choice Voting.

      • Friend of Humanity says:

I like your comparison to a slot machine Elizabeth!

      • Wilford Brimley says:

I can’t believe people are having a hard time understanding RCV. It’s literally still one vote for one candidate. The fact that you can’t understand that kind of speaks volumes about your opinions

      • Marlene says:

I totally agree. We were deceived when we voted for this or most of us wouldn’t have wanted it. Hans Litten is incorrect in trying to think we wanted it. I guess he wanted it.

    • John. J Otness says:

When one lacks morality this is the byproduct.. twisted pretzel logic.

      • Lucinda says:

Hans is exactly right. If Biden had raped a woman after his wife gave birth three months earlier, Republicans would be calling for blood. Or if Biden called military members losers and suckers, y’all’d have a conniption.

      • Friend of Humanity says:

Lucy, what are you talking about?

    • Friend of Humanity says:

Wait Hans Litten…wasn’t rcv supposed to benefit everyone and not favor one side over the other? I swear I remember being told that.

      • Clark says:

        RCV is benefiting everyone!

The candidates with the broadest support won.

Independents and conservatives were allowed to vote for moderate republican candidates without being forced to support an extremists candidate they didnt support. The comments here really show how ignorant some are about how our voting system actually works. Micah over there saying ‘only count votes for 24 hours’ lol. That would mean half states votes would be thrown out. Such an idiot.

    • jon says:

Absolutely right. They couldn’t bear that they elected a RINO and. Democrat.

    • Diana says:

      Are you having a pout?

  • micah says:

    RCV has got to go.

Count all the votes in one 24 hour period.

  • Steve Peterson says:

Yes! One vote per person and on Election Day! No more Democrat strategizing to water down the vote and generally confuse people. Voting should be serious but not difficult to figure out.

    • Clark says:

Voting was serious. And it wasn’t complicated. What don’t you understand? We can explain it to you.

    • Marlene says:

Totally agree. We were screwed with the rcv. We ended up with a rino again and a democrap. We want to vote for one person and one person only on election day. Sure hope this next round we are back to the old system. RCV isn’t benefiting anyone except those who got in that we didn’t want.

  • DaveMaxwell says:

Condemn porcarro, dunleavy, murkowski, Dalhstrom and all the other frauds who have supported this!

  • Proud Alaskan says:

Rank Choice Voting, is cheating, stealing and lies.
Lisa and Mary won, wait they were in Third Place and still won. That’s not the math I learned.
People you need to get out and vote. If not sit down and be Quiet.
One vote with ID on Election Day.

    • jon says:

      RCV backfired on you. LOL.

      • Lobo says:

Explain how RCV.. (Rigged Choice voting) … “backfired” on PA, and the rest of us, who opposed the Cheat/steal system in the beginning…. LOL.. LOL.. LOL.. LOL.. LOL.. Are you related to Clark ? The only way it could have backfired on us, would have required us to support it,… and then it didn’t cheat the way we had hoped it would. LOL … LOL … LOL … LOL

  • Sir Comrade says:

Porcarro has tried to deny his part in bringing this scourge to our state. I’m sure he didn’t return any of the payoff loot from the lower 48 Soros, etc front orgs. The Ship Creek Group is a hingepin for directing the millions of pro-RCV $ that they falsely claimed it would eliminate. The few remaining large TV/radio puppets we have left took their payoff, and the outside destroy Alaska freedom orgs accomplished their deception. Still more $ coming to inform the comatose.

    • DaveMaxwell says:

      Amen comrade

      • Simulation says:

Comrade?!? Are you some type of commie that supports Putin, food stamps, universal health care, and affordable education? The 1st Amendment is right before the 2nd Amendment for a reason! We need Trump to win so he can dictate the antifa deep state lunatics to prison on his first day back as our leader!

    • Simulation says:

If it wasn’t for all of those dark money pay-offs our State would not need to spend so much to protect our freedom! They won’t even let us use our churches to support our party! It’s so bad now that we don’t have enough money for our full and retro PFD. Dark money deep state stole our PFD!!!

    • Marlene says:

Of course they didn’t return any money. We Alaskans aren’t stupid. Thankfully Mary was only in for a short time. Hope to get rid of her and then Murky when she comes up again.

  • Friend of Humanity says:

Well, we still have a waiting game and Dahlstrom’s decision. There is no reason that it should not be on the ballot – it is what we have expressed that we want to see on the ballot. I wonder how long before we’ll get an answer as to whether this gets on the ballot or not?

  • John. J Otness says:

They that illegally installed this and dominion know the price tag of treason so they will claw and scratch to keep. all in the dark.

    • Simulation says:

Amen brother, those dominion voting machines have stolen our votes and bear the mark of TREASON!!!!! The Fox News and Coomer lawsuits were nothing more than a money grab directed by the clintons to fund the deep state. Rudy Giuliani knows the truth and look what happened to him! Be careful my friend, they are trying to put us in the DARK!

  • CD says:

Thank you, Phil Izon for leading the charge!!

  • jon says:

    RCV backfired on you. LOL.

  • Friend of Humanity says:

I heard rumor that the evil that wants rcv is going to somehow electronically remove people’s signatures – I am assuming this is from the state’s databank since the original petitions are on paper. It would be nice for people to be able to check with the state and make sure that the state has their name on file to remove rank choice voting.

    • Simulation says:

It’s not a rumor, it’s 100% correct! The lizard people are migrating from the bottom of the flat earth to interface with the database to remove our signatures. Careful who you talk to about this, who knows what the Deep State will do to those of us who know.

      • Friend of Humanity says:

Well, if everyone knows then the situation is no different than anything else – either we all live or we all die. Better for them to know that we know that they know that we know.

  • Doug glenn says:

Excellent work. Rank choice is a complete scam. 1 vote for 1 person period.

  • Doug glenn says:

Lucinda is on something. Holy cow. Insane. How about some sunlight in your dark world Lucinda. ??

    • HomeschoolersToldYou says:

Oh Yeah, Lucinda is a very special woke angry and nonsensical karen. She has brought me much laughter and entertainment.
They are the least intellegent, emotionally stable, and critical thinking group out there.
Yet they think they are enlightened academics…LOL!
maybe they are frying their brain cells withball the blue hair dye…hahaha

      • Marlene says:

Enjoyed your post. I have also found Lucinda to be either insane or on something wacky. Maybe a wantabe comedian.

  • Guest says:

The people trying to adopt RCV don’t understand how it works.
The people trying to repeal RCV don’t understand how it works, either.
    ‍♂️

  • Fergie says:

“Ranked Choice Voting”, “Eliminating Party Primaries” and “Financial Transparency” are three separate issues. The latter two were used to “sneek” in the former here in Alaska. I am surprised that no state or other organization has challenged RCV on U.S. Constitutional grounds based on the “one man, one vote” concepts implied on the basis that, as many have shown, it is so statistically complex you can end up with so many run-offs and/or counting schemes that a citizen’s vote is in effect, “negated”. At the very least a much smaller number of people out of all voters can elect a candidate compared to a normal election. That’s exactly how Mary Peltola got elected to replace Don Young.

  • HomeschoolersToldYou says:

RCV is not fair or honest. Anyone saying otherwise is either lying or a lemming. Hence the reason 99% of those supporting it are Left.

  • ML, just common sense says:

You know there’s and old adage, ” If it’s not broke don’t fix it”! Our voting process has worked just fine for 250 years. You must be and prove you are a citizen, one vote, paper ballot, and hand counted by monitored people under secure conditions. Of course it was completed in a timely manner, with no possible fraudulent mail in ballots to trail in after the polls closed. Election Day, was Election Day!
Toss out the computers, and the screwball RCV, and WE THE PEOPLE take control of our elections.
