Abortion centers are perhaps one of the last places on earth where one would expect to hear the familiar tunes of heartwarming Christmas carols, but these songs are echoing from the darkness here in Alaska and across the nation.
What began in 2003 as a grassroots effort outside a Chicago abortion center has spread to Alaska as a way to affirm “Peace in the Womb” through peaceful, prayerful songs in hopes women will choose life for their unborn babies during the Christmas season.
In Anchorage, pro-life advocates will gather outside Planned Parenthood – Alaska’s largest abortion business – on Dec. 28, which is the traditional day in which many Christians recall King Herod’s slaughter of innocent children in his failed attempt to murder the newborn Jesus.
“It’s a sobering and appropriate day to pray for an end to abortion,” Anchorage organizer Mary Kemper noted in an email to fellow pro-life advocates. “As we soon joyously celebrate the birth of Jesus and His coming at the end of time, let us also remember the unborn children in our midst who have no one to pray for them, no one to stand up for them. Join us to praise Jesus in song and publicly witness to His tender love for each of us, especially His vulnerable unborn little ones. Let us fill the streets around Planned Parenthood with Christmas joy!”

The Anchorage carolers will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, on the sidewalk outside the Planned Parenthood clinic located at 4001 Lake Otis Parkway in Anchorage.
Earlier this month, a separate caroling event took place outside the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Fairbanks. Similar events have occurred in nearly 100 locations across the nation this month, with more scheduled during the 12 days of Christmas.
