Anchorage residents who want to help change the direction of municipal politics can begin filing for local office on Friday, Jan. 10, for the upcoming spring election.

Candidate filing forms are currently available on line muni.org/elections/candidates, at the city’s Election Center and at the Municipal Clerk’s Office at City Hall. The filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 24.

On April 1, voters will elect six Assembly members, two School Board members and various Area Board Supervisor seats.

During the filing period, candidates may file at the following locations and hours:

— Election Center: 619 E. Ship Creek Avenue, Door D: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

— Municipal Clerk’s Office (632 West 6th Avenue) Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Municipal offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Candidates may also return their filing paperwork by email to elections@anchorageak.gov or fax to 907-343-4313.

Offices on the 2025 ballot include:

— Assembly Seat L – North Anchorage (Incumbent Daniel Volland)

— Assembly Seat A – Chugiak, Eagle River, JBER (Incumbent Mark Littlefield)

— Assembly Seat D – West Anchorage (Incumbent Kameron Perez-Verdia)

— Assembly Seat F – Midtown Anchorage (Incumbent Meg Zaletel)

— Assembly Seat H – East Anchorage (Incumbent Karen Bronga)

— Assembly Seat J – South Anchorage, Girdwood, Turnagain (Incumbent Randy Sulte)

— School Board Seat A (Incumbent Margo Bellamy)

— School Board Seat B (Incumbent Kelly Lessens)

— Various Service Area Board of Supervisor seats.

The April 1 election is a vote-by-mail, where qualified registered voters are mailed a ballot package at least 21 days before Election Day. Voters can return their ballot by placing it in one of 18 drop boxes, bringing it to an Anchorage Vote Center, or mailing it through the USPS with first-class postage.
