Alaska State Troopers released the names of all 10 people who died in the Feb. 6 plane crash outside of Nome, a tragedy that has rocked communities across the region.
The Bering Air Caravan, single-engine turboprop plane included nine passengers and the pilot, who were on route from Unalakleet to Nome, when the aircraft rapidly lost altitude and speed, according to radar data.
Troopers, working with the National Transportation and Safety Board and Alaska National Guard, conducted a recovery effort on Feb. 8 at the sight of the Bearing Air crash.
Two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, a Nome-based UH-60L Black Hawk, an HC -130J Combat King II and a team of pararescuemen worked to recover the victims and bring their bodies to Nome where Alaska State Troopers positively identified them.
The bodies were set to be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsies, and next of kin have been notified.
The names of the crash victims are listed below:

— 52-year-old Liane Ryan of Wasilla

In response to the devastating loss of life, area churches have worked to provide comfort, prayer and spiritual aid to families and friends of the victims.
A weekend vigil service in Nome’s Old St. Joseph’s Catholic Church was well attended as the community gathered in mutual support. Led by leaders from nine Nome churches, the mourners sang hymns and prayed together.
