On April 8, the Dept. of Homeland Security announced it was cancelling Biden-era grants to nine colleges and universities that had been tasked to use hundreds of millions in federal taxpayer funds to help secure U.S. borders, fight transnational criminals and foster lawful trade and travel.

It turns out that some money was being funneled into woke ideological agendas like an anti-colonialist project at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).

According to a report from NextGov.com, DHS’s Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), will halt these grants as it refocuses its priorities under the new Trump administration.

UAA had used part of its grant to promote Alaska Native language revitalization and to raise alarm about “intergenerational trauma, colonization and colonialism.”

The money, which included a $46 million grant to UAA was intended to be part of a collaborative, multi-year approach that included partnerships with industry leaders and others on national security initiatives.

A memo sent to S&T staffers, however, explained that the funding for these efforts was being terminated due to “potential misalignment with current strategic priorities” and conflicts with DHS’s updated priorities under Trump’s recent executive orders, NexGov.com reported.

UAA had used part of its grant to fund projects such as the “Indigenous Elder, Knowledge Keeper, and Leader-in-Residence Program,” which sought to instruct Homeland Security professionals about indigenous practices, while promoting Alaska Native language revitalization, and raising alarm about “intergenerational trauma, colonization and colonialism.” This project included “one-on-one sessions” to help participants incorporate “indigenous histories, languages, and worldviews” into a “more inclusive and holistic learning experience for all.” Other funds were directed to environmental modeling, graduate degree programs, and community engagement opportunities for “Minority Serving Institutions nationwide.”

UAA’s website notes that the $46 million DHS grant was awarded in January 2024, to establish the Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC)-ARCTIC Center of Excellence (COE) for Homeland Security in the Arctic. Led by Jeffery Libby, the UAA-based center was tasked with conducting research that would strengthen Arctic national security forces.

The cancellation of the grants is part of Trump’s wider, large-scale reductions in the federal workforce across all governmental agencies in order to improve efficiencies and cut waste and fraud of taxpayer dollars.

I made mention of intergenerational trauma, colonization, and colonialism, while on the juvenile justice board during a meeting, and dunleavy removed me from the board. I faithfully served 9 years! DUNLEAVY HATES TRUTH!

Pro tip: When the temperature rises, remember to put lots of sunscreen on your prominently exposed tail feathers.

I have a new invention you might be interested in when the temperature rises. It will help you keep hydrated as the oceans evaporate, weighs nothing and takes no space to store. It’s called dry water. Interested?

—-For the life of us, we could not see the “End of the Road” sign at the cliff’s edge in front of us as we barreled towards it at 200mph! Trump did, and he’s jumped into the driver’s seat, hit the brakes, and is a attempting a course correction!!! WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?!?!

Happily, the USCCB and Catholic Charities issued similar statements on Tuesday, when they announced the end of migrant resettlement contracts with the U.S. government due to Trump funding cuts.

Eviscerate the belly of the Beast and throw his carcass over the cliff!

Are you all pro colonization? Weird take! I’m surprised you didn’t try to loop in anti trans rhetoric into this poorly written article aimed to infuriate christian nationalists.

    • M.John says:

Are there colonies now?? I thought we bought this from Russia! BTW, “transgenderism” is a psychological disorder. There, I done looped it real good…

      • jon says:

Trump is trying to colonialize Canada, Mexico, the Panama Canal, Greenland. That’s disgusting. Is transgenderism (is that even a word?) in the DSM -5-TR? NO

Feel free to go somewhere else, or continue reaping the rewards that allow you comfortably complain about how hard your life of freedom is. What privilege you display.

Throughout all of human history territory has been taken from others by force. Now we live in the least violent of times and there are still those who cannot let go of the past and live with the benefits of the society we have built for ourselves. Some people have it so good that they have to make up drama to give themselves meaning. Go mow your lawn or something.

They are teaching young Indians that white people permanently damaged their DNA when Europeans came to the Americas through trauma, so now they must raise up, hate Americans and become radical Marxists for the revolution.

  • jon says:

Colonialism around the world affected the original people that lived there. Native Americans lost their lives, their land and their liberty. Taking over Native Alaskans has driven them to drugs and drink. Hawaiian population was halved from diseases the colonialists brought. This should be taught, but in white-washed history it won’t be. Sad state of affairs.

It doesn’t have to be taught in public schools, people will pass these opinions on from generation to generation as long as there are people who believe they belong to a group of victims who suffer from a collective inferiority complex. I mean, you learned it, right? Nobody taught these opinions to you in school. The self-declared down-trodden, disenfranchised, marginalized, victimized, colonized, indigenous minority members aren’t going to let this go as long as there are sympathetic ears among this country’s woke elected leaders. It’s been hundreds of years in many cases and still it rages on. And most land has changed hands so many times over human history that it’s impossible to tell who the so-called “aboriginal owners” and the original colonists really are. It’s possible that some of these assumed indigenous tribes are actually colonialists themselves. They just happened to be the ones residing on the land when pale face showed up.

So, Alaska Natives weren’t sent to boarding schools in the lower 48 to be “integrated” into society? Americans bought this land from the Russians when it wasn’t theirs to sell? Treating an entire population as “less than” for over 250 years, breaking contract after contract with them, subjecting them to priests who were relocated to Alaska because they couldn’t be celibate in the lower 48, exposing Alaska women and children to sexual abuse, and making it almost impossible to pass down traditional values and culture – none of that is true? Really? I’m sorry to be the one to inform you, but facts don’t care about your feelings. Alaska Natives and American Indians had over 400 treaties with the US Government that were broken. If it hadn’t been for small pox, syphilis and alcohol – white men’s diseases- killing them in astounding numbers, the America’s might look very different today. DEI might not be perfect, but white men are not the only people who ever made contributions to society.History allows us to learn from our mistakes. Chances are that you didn’t do these to others, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Again, facts don’t care about feelings. History does not ask you to feel guilty about things that happened in the past that ypu had no control over, but bring a human means taking a minute to put yourself in another’s shoes and consider a different point of view. Please let go of the hate and realize that we are ALL people.
