A protester at a leftist rally in Sitka was charged with two felony assaults counts, theft, criminal mischief and robbery, which occurred during an Aug. 30 protest that resulted in one peaceful, conservative counter-protester being admitted to the local hospital after suffering a broken nose, severe concussion, busted lips, damage to his ribcage and shoulder and welts across his head.
According to court records and a report in the Daily Sitka Sentinel, 19-year-old Pietr K. Dabaluz was arraigned Sunday after allegedly taking an Israeli flag from a counter protester and then assaulting two men with it.
The alleged attack occurred along Sitka’s main roundabout which has become ground-zero for weekly leftist protests shortly after President Trump assumed office.
Roughly 25 area protesters gather every Saturday to yell anti-Trump chants and wave pro-Palestine, DEI and LGBTQ signs, along with others that criticize Trump’s efforts to stop illegal immigration and defund left-wing public media. These demonstrators typically bang on pots and pans while others wave Palestinian and rainbow Pride flags.
“This violence needs to stop,” Dollie emphasized. “Just letting stuff like this slide is not working. It makes things worse.”
A smaller conservative cohort faithfully gathers across the street holding flags in support of Trump, Israel and America. These residents are friends from church, and neighbors who want to let tourists and others know that leftists don’t represent all of Sitka.
It’s not clear who is behind leftist protests, but they began gaining steam with the launch of national events such as the “No Kings” rallies.
While previous protests included shouting and spitting from leftists, the Aug. 30 event turned bloody when one man allegedly attacked two conservative counter-protesters.
Court documents confirm that 19-year-old Pietr Kaliloaokeikane Dabaluz was charged with three assault felony crimes including “serious injury,” and causing injury with a weapon. He also faces a criminal mischief charge for tampering with property.
According to 59-year-old Marshall Albertson, Dabaluz attacked him and another conservative, Steve Lee, 49.
They were part of a group of 8-10 conservatives who gather every Saturday, from noon to 1 p.m., to counter the left-wing demonstrations.
According to Albertson, the conservatives are intentional about being civil and respectful.
“We just wave and hold signs,” he said. “Some people drive by and honk, others give us the middle finger.”
According to Albertson, at some point during the Aug. 30 protest, Dabaluz ran over to the conservative counter-protesters and grabbed an Israeli flag from Steve Lee.
Albertson went to help Lee, whom he said is a much smaller man.

“When Steve caught up to Pietr, Pietr turned and stabbed Steve with the blunt end of the flagpole like a spear, grabbed him and threw him on the ground,” Albertson’s wife, Dollie, told the Watchman. “Steve lost consciousness.”
At that point, her husband told the alleged assailant that he was “going to jail,” Dollie recalled.
According to Dollie, her husband’s chest camera then fell off and he bent down to pick it up,
When Marshall confronted Pietr, he punched Marshall and knocked him out, Dollie claimed.
“He then proceeded to stomp on his back and head,” she said. “Then Pietr got on top of Marshall and started throwing sets on him.”
When Marshall woke up, he proceeded to grab Peitr’s “long greasy hair and pulled him closer to him so he couldn’t continue punching him,” Dollie added. “Pietr then tried to gouge out Marshall right eye. That is when Pietr was dragged off of Marshall and put into custody.”
Marshall Albertson said he drove to the hospital where he was treated for a concussion, broken nose, bloodied lip and other injuries to his head and ribcage.
Within hours of the incident, Dollie claims a local middle school teacher, took to Facebook to praise the alleged attack against her husband.
“So, while I generally don’t condone pugilism [boxing], I heard a native kid handed Marshall’s ass to him at the roundabout today. I condone this,” the Facebook post by a man named Alexander Allison stated.
While the post has been removed, Dollie saved a screenshot of the original. It lists Alexander Allison as a “rising contributor” to the Sitka Splatters Facebook page. Alexander Allison is also the name of a teacher listed on Blatchley Middle School website.
According to Dollie, a number of parents are angry with the Facebook post, and are pulling their kids from the school.
“This violence needs to stop,” Dollie emphasized. “Just letting stuff like this slide is not working. It makes things worse.”

That’s the main constitutional offense, but I could argue that attacking law enforcement and planning to murder the Speaker of the House and the Vice President is an attack on the constitution too.

I’m very disappointed with our City of Sitka. The residents disrespect our religion – all Christians and all churches. The protesters were yelling “F**k” to Jesus Christ . I was wearing a Jesus Christ baseball cap and T-shirt . Very disrespectful. I don’t understand what really peace means. I have a video clip that I want to share that I recorded when protesters were calling out “F**k” to Jesus Christ and disrespect our Christian religion. Also, it’s true that some of them are active school teachers from Sitka. I have pictures and videos to share. I want people to see them and make there own judgement. I’m still recovering from the injury from the incident that happen at the roundabout.
