The rapidly growing Turning Point USA chapter at the University of Alaska Anchorage has changed its location for the Sept. 25 public memorial for their slain leader, Charlie Kirk.

The new venue is the Wendy Williamson Auditorium (UAA Campus 2533, Providence Drive).

Originally scheduled at the much smaller Student Union, the planned memorial has switched gears as public interest continues to surge over the past few days.

Since Kirk was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during a campus event in Utah, Turning Point chapters across the nation have seen unprecedented growth. Anchorage is no exception.

The new venue has a seating capacity of 910, and the free event will be open to students and non-students alike. Free parking will be available in the West lot. The memorial is scheduled to run from 6-7:30 p.m.

According to organizers, the memorial aims to honor and remember the remarkable life and legacy of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk and what he stood for.

Turning Point is a nationwide movement that aims to educate students on the importance of freedom, free markets and limited government, while empowering young advocates to build strong high school and college campus networks, organize conferences, and utilize strategies to combat leftist ideologies. Turning Point believes the U.S. Constitution is the most exceptional political document ever written, the United States is the greatest country in the history of the world, and capitalism is the most moral and proven economic system ever discovered.

Those interested in learning more about the UAA chapter, and how to get involved with future events, are encouraged to attend the Sept. 25 event.

Thanks for putting this notice in. It is an event to memorialize this young man that created a peaceful movement for love of God and freedom for humanity, in our country and the world. He is being eulogized around the world and the many faiths that have recognized the life and purpose that Charlie Kirk chose.
I am particularly upset that clubs and organizations have planned to use his memorial as a “piggy back” method for their political gain and it needs to STOP! Anchorage Women’s Republican Club has intent to turn it into their planned event for signature gathering. that call to their actions which tells me that they need new leadership and board member changes.
