Many cities in the United States have named major streets after Martin Luther King Junior. There may be close to 1,000 instances within the United States. Anchorage did so in 2010. There may be another 1,000 streets bearing his name scattered across the globe. List of streets named after Martin Luther King Jr. – Wikipedia

The act honors and maintains MLK’s legacy by causing anyone referencing that roadway or an address with his name to recall the civil rights movement along with MLK’s vision and convictions simply by the sight or sound of his name as a consistent reminder.

Charlie Kirk’s legacy, championing patriotic liberty rooted in faith and morality, is analogous to that of MLK. Patriotic liberty and freedom for all, as promoted fearlessly and dutifully by Charlie, is the present-day awakening movement mirroring the vision of our Founding Fathers.

Wouldn’t it be appropriate and fitting for campuses across the United States to rename college streets such that campus-based Turning Point USA chapters could receive mail at an address on Charlie Kirk Way, or Charlie Kirk Boulevard? Could all University of Alaska campuses rename a street to honor Charlie Kirk?

And, of course, cities, states, or the District of Columbia for that matter shouldn’t be excluded from this act of memorialization either.

How does this idea get on an agenda, or in a bill?

NO University of Alaska campuses should have streets named after such a divisive figure. The fact that this is even being proposed simply illustrates that Jimmy Kimmel was right: MAGA is milking Charlie Kirk’s death for all its worth.

Paul, Martin Luther King was a divisive figure in his time. Do you feel all MLK street names should be removed? If not, wouldn’t that make you a bigot?

    • OK in Anchorage says:

What if we had a Charlie Kirk Way and a Jimmy Kimmel Way? A man who died exercising freedom of speech and a cardboard martyr propped up by the lies of the Left? That way, the hoi polloi and the triggered Hogwarts devotees with their Covid masks and baseball bats would both have a place to engage in peaceful protests.

Look to then US Constitution and the signatures on it. They were the most divisive signatures on record today. If caught by the British, they would have been put to death. So, the question after this realization is, how is it possible given the conflicts of communities and state governments?

Kirk was the flavor of the month, in 10 years, perhaps less, no one will remember his name.

She ended by reading a new proclamation by Gov. Mike Dunleavy, which establishes Oct. 14, 2025 (Kirk’s birthday) as “Charlie Kirk Day” in Alaska.

Wendy and Paul maybe we should name it the Charlie Kirks hwy (Seward hwy or Parks hwy) pick a stretch. Yes Windy, Charlie Kirk, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN .

You are right! Charlie has been in several homilies and speeches of Pope Leo who is from Chicago. He has eulogies from all over the world because he hoped and worked for a better way to think through serious issues effecting this generation and his purpose was to be a part of the debates on all things of healthy and unhealthy in life. He was a Christian and devoted his thinking to debate those issues effecting the good and evil of life pushed at the students. Did you see professors in their efforts trying to work with students like that? No! Charlie Kirk gave respect and decency in his debates and he didn’t hold classes to point fingers or shake rules. None of the political persons at the memorial here at UAA had a clue of Charlie Kirk’s name and agenda in life until he was killed. He started Turning Point and I hope it keeps moving on with him in mind. All of the presidents staff and department heads were at Charlie Kirk’s Memorial with his wife. They were all friends with that relationship. Will Charlie Kirk’s memory be honored? Yes and he will be in our history books as well.

It’s appropriate, but prepare thyself for incessant vandalism.

How about a Neck Blood Fountain Avenue?

THIS UNIVERSITY IS A FRAUD BOULEVARD

  • Kiana Kid says:

How ‘bout let’s lift the banner of Jesus Christ high above all. There are two types of people. Sinners and saved sinners. My understanding is that Charlie Kirk repented and believed in Christ? Well, just like the rest of those who ‘believe,’ He, too, is a saved sinner.

That would be ridiculous. Charlie Kirk was a racist, white supremacist. He thought blacks were better under Jim Crow laws. He also said it was ok for a few to die to get our 2nd amendment rights. We might as well name it KARMA ave.
