A radical LGBTQ group is working to ensure that two fellow activists win seats on the Fairbanks School Board.
School Board candidates Naomi Hewitt and Chemetria (Sam) Spencer have the full backing of Fireweed Collective, which enthusiastically endorsed the duo for being “2LGBTQAI+” allies and “Climate Change” advocates. If elected, these women would further solidify the left’s supermajority on the school board, thereby making it easier to pass measures that promote the LGBTQ agenda in curriculum, activities and school policies.
“Allyship isn’t just a word to me – it’s a lifelong commitment,” Spencer emphasized on Facebook after securing the Fireweed Collective endorsement. “I protected my queer army colleagues during ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. I spoke against injustice on a nonprofit board, and I will bring that same courage and solidarity to the school board.”
Spencer went on to proudly proclaim that she believes in “celebrating diversity” in school settings.
Hewitt was similarly enthusiastic about advancing the LGBTQ agenda among children enrolled in Fairbanks public schools.
“As a union representative, I’ve fought for fairness and for people of all backgrounds – and I’ll bring that same dedication to our schools,” she posted to Facebook upon winning the Fireweed Collective endorsement.
Hewitt is running against conservative candidate Melissa Burnett for Seat D on the school board.
Spencer is running against conservative Audra Hull for Seat C.

Great news! I’m going to vote for both of these progressive candidates and cancel two votes from the backwards, ignorant Bible thumpers!
We should be happy about a candidate who cares for all people, even caring for the Christian Right extremists.
You know this how? Who exactly are the Christian Right Extremists and what does that mean? I suspect it means anyone who does not agree with you. I wonder if the two candidates would be as ‘tolerant’ of those who do not buy into the identity stuff or the climate saga?
Well Ms Henry, YOU are a Christian Nationalist Extremist. You want America to be dominated by your value system. You’re not alone though. The Kirk cult, Podcaster Pete Hegseth, Dunleavy, that McCabe politician, Bob Bird, sir Voldemort Stephen Miller, poor Ms Caroline Leavitt and of course I could go on. The blinkered thinking is dangerous. It kills brown and black people and it makes otherwise smart people use terms like “climate saga”.
Haha, great to see the radical LGBTQ collective backing these candidates! Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in the school board? I bet that’ll be a real hoot at the next PTA meeting. Wonder how the Christian Right Extremists (love that term) will react when they realize the school board might actually start *celebrating diversity* instead of just pretending it doesn’t exist. Here’s to courage and solidarity… maybe next they can bring that to the football team! Can’t wait for Oct. 7!
the Fairbanks university already has DEI hire which is racist and sexist. there’s already bathrooms for gender for all. there’s also the terrorist pride flags everywhere , we don’t need lgbq support , they have enough support what we need is someone in the student board that realizes the world doesn’t revolve around the LGBQ
