On Oct. 14, Alaskans will join Americans around the country in celebrating Charlie Kirk Day and the posthumous awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom on the late founder of Turning Point USA.
President Trump is scheduled to return from his Middle East trip just in time to bestow the nation’s highest civilian honor at the White House, starting around 12 p.m. Alaska time.
In Alaska, Gov. Mike Dunleavy proclaimed Oct. 14, which would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday, as Charlie Kirk Day. He is encouraging residents to remember the young conservative influencer and his extraordinary courage to reach across ideological lines to engage the other side.
The Turning Point USA chapter at the University of Alaska Anchorage is holding a watch party on Oct. 14 at the E. Street Theater. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the event will run until 1:30 p.m.
“We’re honoring our friend Charlie Kirk, celebrating both his birthday and his extraordinary recognition with the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States,” a notice for the event states.
Seating is limited to 45 people at the theater watch party, which is part of a nationwide celebration in which Turning Point chapters around the country are hosting similar gatherings in honor of Kirk.
Later that night, the UAA Turning Point chapter is helping to put on a public event at Main Event Grill in Anchorage, where attendees will have an opportunity to take part in an open mic night to recount how Charlie Kirk impacted their lives, and what they plan to do to advance the conservative cause moving forward. That event will run 6-10 p.m.
