Alaska State Sen. Mike Shower (R – Wasilla) has officially ended his nearly decade long tenure in the Alaska Legislature.

“As much as it was an honor to serve our nation in uniform for more than two decades, it was an honor to serve the people of District O,” the Senate Minority Leader said on Nov. 3.

Shower added that he still feels the “pull towards public service,” but in a different capacity.

“Earlier this year, I made the decision to move forward as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor,” said Shower, who is running on the ticket with gubernatorial candidate Bernadette Wilson. “The experience and skill I bring is better suited to the executive position.”

Fellow State Sen. Robb Myers praised Shower for his service in the State Senate.

“Senator Shower has served as a strong voice for his district and is a valuable member of our team,” Myers stated. “I wish him well in his future endeavors, both political and personal.”

Moving forward, the Senate Republican Caucus stated that it will support Gov. Mike Dunleavy and District O constituents to find the best fit for the Shower’s seat.

“Resigning my seat early ensures a quick and smooth transition through the appointment process and allows the Senate Republican Caucus time to build relationships with new members prior to January and the start of the legislative session,” Shower said. “I know whoever is appointed to take up the mantle of District O will serve with dignity and integrity.”

Another problem from the Republican Party. And, to me just another “junk yard dog” made to resemble a good choice when he, like most of the Republicans played games when they should have been working for the people that elected him to do a job. So, while they had a huge salary raise, lived in a ten million dollar apartment building in Juneau and enjoyed top per diem for travel and allowed the now governor , Crime Boss Dunleavy, to change the law on board participation, tenure and responsibilities, said nothing and did nothing, definitely not his job, Mike Shower will become the “bane” of his district when all the realities of what he did not do or disclose comes forward like a ;light bulb being turned on. There are places for these legislature persons to spend time.. Its called jaoil!
