On Nov. 6, the Repeal Now team will deliver more than 48,000 signatures to the Alaska Division of Elections in support of a ballot initiative to repeal the state’s confusing and highly controversial ranked-choice voting system.
The upcoming delivery marks a critical milestone in fulfilling the legal threshold required to place the measure on the ballot in 2026. Under Alaska law, initiative sponsors in 2025 must gather at least 34,098 valid signatures of registered voters and must include designated minimums from at least 30 of the state’s 40 House districts.
“Today we deliver the voices of Alaskans demanding change,” said Judy Eledge, Chair of Repeal Now. “Our petition reflects the strong and growing desire among voters across the state to restore a fair and straightforward election system – one that puts Alaska voters back in control.”
In 2024, voters nearly overturned the ranked-choice system, losing by just 800 votes – 160,861 to 160,124. In the latest effort, the repeal team has scoured the state for months to successfully gather signatures from registered voters for a second crack.
“This isn’t just about process – it’s about policy,” Eledge added. “Alaskans should be confident their system is transparent, and not feel disadvantaged or excluded by unintended consequences of ranked-choice mechanics. We believe this initiative restores power and clarity to the voter by returning to a customary voting system.”
Next Steps
— The Division of Elections will need to verify the submitted signatures and validate that minimum district thresholds have been met.
— Once validated, the measure will be officially certified and then will be eligible to appear before voters in 2026.
— Repeal Now will continue statewide outreach and education.

Persistence can be a virtue. Lets get rid of this RCV nonsense.
This is of course is a signal for Princess Lisa to get her lawyer and big money donors in high gear in order to flood our airwaves with pro RCV propaganda. You know she will, her very survival as a Senator depends on it.
RCV is cheating end of story.
RCV is a ‘tar baby’. Wise folk wont touch it.
The lib “Outsiders” spent 15 M (10K of actual AK $) or $93.00 per vote last time.
The ‘dump RCV’ folks spent 155K (almost all AK $) or .93 cents per vote (they were outspent 100 to 1
This type of interstate election funding should be abolished imo.
