Earlier this month, an estimated 50 people gathered outside of the Planned Parenthood center in Anchorage to celebrate an outdoor Catholic Mass in the shadow of Alaska’s largest abortion facility.

The Nov. 2 liturgy occurred in an empty lot near the abortion center, where local Catholics prayed for an end to abortion. The gathering marked the end of the 40 Days For Life vigil, in which Christians of various denominations prayed outside the abortion center, holding signs and offering a lifeline to women in crisis pregnancy situations.

Recently-ordained Father Ed Burke celebrated the Mass, along with Father Michael Shields and Father James Moore.

Eight high school students from Holy Rosary Academy led the congregants in song.

“We prayed in thanksgiving for the many sacrifices made these last 40 days for unborn children and for their mothers and fathers considering abortion,” organizer Mary Kemper observed in a note to supporters. “We prayed for continued efforts to pass and enforce laws at all levels of government that end the killing of the unborn. We prayed for hearts and minds to change, that all people would acknowledge our Creator and protect His most precious creation, each tiny new human life.”

Following the Mass, people lingered afterward, sharing donuts and coffee and recalling the highlights of the recent 40-day prayer vigil.

According to Kemper, one attendee recounted that during the last week of the vigil, she and her prayer partners were involved in possibly helping to save the life of an unborn baby.

“Three of us 40 Days For Life participants were out at Planned Parenthood offering to pray for anyone going inside,” the woman told Kemper. “A young couple came over for prayer. The young man, who had seemed distrustful of our interaction with the young woman, eventually joined and he offered to pray for us! The two of young parents ended up leaving the abortion clinic without ever entering. I believe in faith that many more people’s lives were touched as a result of our prayers and faithful service to God by showing up on the sidewalk for the sake of being a voice for the voiceless.”

40 Days For Life is an ecumenical pro-life campaign that includes vigils all across the globe. Campaigns are held in the fall and spring, each year.

Every preborn child is carefully made in the image of God through many steps from fertilization to natural birth. Those who are told by Planned Parenthood that abortion is a human right are being lied to with PP profited by selling baby parts to university labs. Outside the window of the abortion clinic up here are the signs Abortion is health care. This is another lie from the “death cult” in our country. Thank you to those wonderful priests.!

That didn’t stop the women getting abortions, did it. Leave them alone, you don’t know their beliefs or circumstances.
