Alaska House District 33 Republicans passed a resolution on Dec. 1, calling on Congress to end federal funding for Taliban terrorists.

The resolution from District 33, which covers the North Pole area, implores the U.S. Senate to approve HR 260, which passed the U.S. House back in June. Since then, the legislation has stalled in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

HR 260 urges Congress to cut off the regular flow of cash from the United States to the Taliban and other terror organizations.

“In 2023 alone, over two billion dollars was sent to the Taliban in weekly installments,” District 33 leaders stated. “The flow of cash continues as of today.”

District 33 notes that the White House has highlighted the need to end funding to terror organizations and has highlighted the need for Congress to act.

Former Fairbanks Assemblywoman Barbara Haney initiated the resolution in District 33 with hopes that it will inspire other Alaska GOP districts, as well as districts around the nation, to take similar actions. The District 33 resolution passed 8-3.

Copies of the resolution are being sent to President Trump, Alaska Senators Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski, other House districts across Alaska, the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and the leadership of the U.S. Senate.

Weekly Cash Shipments: The UN has been organizing weekly cash shipments of U.S. dollars from the Federal Reserve in New York to Afghanistan’s central bank (Da Afghanistan Bank) to stabilize the country’s currency and economy. This central bank is controlled by sanctioned Taliban members, and critics argue this system funnels money to the regime. “According to an August 2023 World Bank report, the UN has purchased, transported, and transferred $2.9 billion in U.S. currency to Afghanistan since August 2021,” said a Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) report published in January. “This included $1.8 billion provided in 2022 and $1.1 billion provided in 2023, as of August 2023.”

“The U.S. is the largest international donor to Afghanistan, having provided about $2.6 billion in funding to the UN, other international organizations (PIOs), and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Afghanistan since August 2021,” said the SIGAR report. The U.N., which handles the transportation of these payments, claims it needs to send cash because the country does not have the infrastructure to wire funds.

You mean to publish that one republican group has a sense of loyalty to this country and not just their wallets or how much to ask for donations? Hard to believe but that is a fact. Finally, and hopefully, that includes the ones residing in Alaska. On the sneak , if course!

Who are the people on this Foreign Relations Committee who have dropped the ball and are doing nothing except collecting their insider trading money. It seems that Congress especially the Senate are too busy with their own personal interests “materialism and greed and thwarting the MAGA movement!!! Way to go, Barb.
Pray for leaders in Congress that they try to do their job and cut back on their “servants.” They seem to act like royalty with no responsibilities where they work. It seems some Republican Senators in Congress would rather concentrate on causing the Midterms to fail like Ted Cruz….

When the Biden Administration claimed to be fighting “terrorism”, the fact that it allowed the Southern Border to remain open (to terrorists, the CCP, and anyone else that wanted to pop over for a visit) was an obvious tell that, whatever else it was doing, it wasn’t actually about the business of fighting terrorism. Sending money to terrorists is another obvious tell. You don’t need to know a lot about politics to understand that when the Trump Administration is inviting known al-Qaeda leaders like Ahmed al-Sharaa to the White House, and sending money to the Taliban, it isn’t serious about fighting terrorism. Remember, less than two years ago, the U.S. had placed a $10 million bounty on al-Sharaa for his crimes as an al-Qaeda terrorist leader. Some propaganda is only paper-thin when you step back and look at its height when its laying on the table.

Thank you, Barb, for bringing this serious issue to attention.
We need to get rid of the enemies within us. It is working to our own demise. Look at the meeting between Mamdani and Trump. It appears that Trump is hoping to convince Mamdani to change his mind. I wouldn’t trust Mamdani. Past experience with communists is that they are docile when not in power but when they get control, watch out. All hell breaks loose. Just talk to anyone who’s had to live under these regimes. And there are Arabs/Muslims who want to take over Western civilization and their doing that just by having more babies. Do your research.

The first paragraph of this useless announcement from some unknown place in Alaska, fails to note that Trump placed our soldiers in harms way for no reason,, and no doubt the assailant was driven to extremity in no small part by the policies of the Trump administration.
