Many of Alaska’s most committed hard-leftist politicians have lined up to endorse one of their own for governor – former State Rep. Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins.
The list, released by the Kreiss-Tomkins campaign on Feb. 17, includes the likes of Alaska State Senators Forrest Dunbar, Zack Fields and Rebecca Hischoot, along with Anchorage Assembly Members Chris Constant, Erin Baldwin, Daniel Volland and Kelly Lessons. The most left-leaning Fairbanks Borough Assembly Member, Savannah Fletcher, also signed on, as did a host of other liberal politicians from across the state.

While not a single Republican was among the list of 30 supporters, the Kreiss-Tomkins announcement used the endorsements as an opportunity to claim he is running for governor to “work across party lines” to solve Alaska’s problems and “get the state back on track.”
As a Democrat member of the Alaska State House from 2013 to 2023, Kreiss-Tomkins represented the Southeast island communities, including Hoonah, Sitka, Kake, Klawock, Craig, Angoon, and Petersburg.
During his legislative career he was a firm supporter of state-funded abortions, LGBTQ bills that threatened religious liberty, mail-in voting, increased spending on education and many other leftist priorities.
Three years ago, Kreiss-Tomkins left the State Legislature, spending two years working on science and technology policy on Capitol Hill, while supporting leftist politicians across Alaska and the country. He is now one of three Democrats, along with 12 Republicans and two independent candidates who are vying to become Alaska’s next governor.
“I’m honored to earn these leaders’ trust and have their support through Election Day,” Kreiss-Tomkins said in announcing the list of 30 left-leaning endorsements. “This campaign is about bringing Alaskans together who want to solve the problems facing Alaska.”
