Alaska Family Action, the state’s largest pro-family, pro-life and religious freedom group, announced that it has endorsed five conservatives running for the Anchorage Assembly. The mail-in election is currently underway.

The endorsed candidates include Donald Handeland, Brian Flynn, Dave Donley, Cody Anderson and Bruce Vergason.

The Anchorage Assembly races offer conservative voters a concrete opportunity to weaken the left’s growing political grip and move the city in a new direction. Six out of 12 Assembly seats are up for grabs this year. Additionally, two School Board seats are being contested.

Earlier this month, Alaska Family Action released its 2026 Values Voter Guide for the April 7 election to give voters information on where candidates for Assembly and School Board stand on a wide range of hot-button cultural issues.

In a March 25 email alert, AFA President Jim Minnery emphasized how important it is for conservative-minded residents to vote.

“Remember…75% of Anchorage eligible residents didn’t vote in the last Muni election,” he noted. “If conservatives show up in even marginally larger numbers, we have a chance to slow down the trajectory of Anchorage becoming Seattle, Portland or San Francisco.”

The mail-in ballots have already been issued by the city clerk’s office.

“Ballots should be in your hands, lying around your kitchen or living room, or silently whispering to you from some lonely corner of your abode,” Minnery added. “Pay heed. Fill it out. You have until Tuesday, April 7th , but don’t wait til then.”

Ballots can be returned via secure drop boxes around the city, or by taking them to an Anchorage Vote Center (AVC), or mailing them through the U.S. Postal Service with first-class postage.
