Gov. Mike Dunleavy will host energy leaders, policymakers and industry experts from across the nation and around the world at the fifth annual Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference, taking place May 19-21 at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage.

The three-day conference will bring together decision-makers, innovators, investors, researchers, and energy developers to explore Alaska’s critical role in America’s energy security and economic future, with a focus on liquefied natural gas and North Slope development, advanced nuclear power, renewable energy technologies, and carbon capture efforts.

“Alaska stands at the forefront of America’s energy future,” Dunleavy noted on May 1. “This conference showcases our state’s vast energy potential and our commitment to responsibly developing Alaska’s resources to power our communities, strengthen our economy, and enhance energy security for our nation and our allies in the Pacific.”

The conference will feature high-profile keynote presentations, including U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Audrey Robertson and National Laboratory of the Rockies Director Jud Virden. Dunleavy will later host a fireside chat with Glenfarne CEO and Founder Brendan Duval on the future of the Alaska liquified natural gas project, as well as a keynote lunch presentation featuring entrepreneur and author Magatte Wade.

Wade is a Senegalese-American entrepreneur, author, and activist whose core ideology centers on free-market capitalism, entrepreneurship, and economic liberty as the path to African prosperity. Her views are strongly anti-socialist and pro-capitalist, but she frames her views as evidence-based rather than partisan or ideological.

Key sessions will cover Alaska’s opportunities in sustainable aviation fuel production, the 50-year legacy of the Alaska Energy Authority, advanced nuclear power deployment, including the Eielson Air Force Base pilot project, and carbon capture utilization and storage technology.

Energy industry leader Maynard Holt of Veriten will also host a special session featuring Repsol CEO Josu Jon Imaz.

Other notable speakers include NERC President Jim Robb, National Hydropower Association President Malcolm Woolf, and former U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.

Additional panels will explore Alaska’s role in renewable energy development, forest management and carbon offsets, critical minerals, synthetic aviation fuels, and Louisiana’s leadership in carbon capture technology, offering lessons for Alaska’s emerging carbon management programs. A special breakout track will also focus on energy issues and solutions for rural Alaska. A pre-conference welcome reception will also take place on May 18 at the Anchorage Museum.

Registration and full conference details, including the agenda and speakers, are available at alaskasustainableenergy.com.

Dunleavy he’s kissing bottoms. Carbon capture? If you have ever been to the north slope. There’s more oil in your personal garages, than on the ground on the north slope. Drill baby drill.

  • Paul Hart says:

Alaska is warming at two to three times the global average rate, experiencing a 4.4 degrees fahrenheit increase since 1970. This rapid warming causes severe permafrost thaw, sea ice loss, and coastal erosion, severely impacting indigenous communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. Key threats include sinking homes, necessary village relocations, and ecosystem shifts. You would HOPE that Alaskans are taking climate change more seriously.

Do you not know, how much colder it was here in Alaska this winter, and yes Florida and New York
will be under water in ten year. Gods in control one big volcanic eruption. in Alaska.

    • DoneWithIt says:

      Get up to date please.
Al Gore is now warning us of a coming Ice Age – since his Global Warming charade was proven to be a hoax.
Big Tech wants AI – we have to increase our our power grid by 300% to 400%.
we won’t do that with windmills, solar panels, and fairy dust – we can ONLY do that coal, natural gas, nuclear, oil, and gas.
Drill baby drill – Mine daddy mine!…

  • Dave Maxwell says:

    Dunleavy and his STAKEHOLDERS!

Anyone else find it interesting that the two (that I know of) right leaning “media” outlets in Alaska aren’t reporting about gas prices?
