Sen. Lisa Murkowski quickly jumped at the chance to show her support for the LGBTQ political agenda by praising the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to redefine sex to include gender identity and expression and sexual orientation when it comes to enforcing violations of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Conservative and religious groups worry that the court’s June 15 opinion will serve as a tool to roll back religious liberties, free speech and the ability of business owners and nonprofits to operate in the public square without violating their deeply held beliefs about human sexuality.

The 6-3 decision redefines the Civil Rights Act, which was written at a time when everyone accepted that there were only two sexes. Many conservatives believe the Supreme Court’s decision is a classic case of judicial activism which could have dire consequences for faith-based businesses and churches that affirm there are only two biological sexes.
Alaska’s senior senator, however, showed unbridled support for the ruling.
“People should not live in fear of being discriminated against because of their LGBTQ Status,” Murkowski posted on Facebook just hours after the decision. “I am pleased to see today’s Supreme Court holding that existing federal civil rights law protects individuals from discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Murkowski called the ruling “long overdue, and significant progress as we seek to protect and uphold the rights and equality of all Americans.”
For Americans like Tom Rost, the ruling means he must either abandon his moral convictions about how God created men and women or risk losing his century-old family owned business.
“Please pray for this family-owned business. And pray as well for all Americans. Because this ruling has implications for us all.”
Rost’s case was one of three the Supreme Court considered in making decision.
Alliance Defending Freedom has represented Harris Funeral Homes since 2013. That year, a male funeral director expressed the intent to disregard the business’ dress code and begin dressing and presenting as a woman while interacting with grieving families.

And pray as well for all Americans. Because this ruling has implications for us all.”
