Dave Bronson will officially be sworn in as mayor of Anchorage at 8 a.m. on July 1 as required by city code.

The ceremony will take place at the Marriott Anchorage Downtown Inn (820 W. 7th Avenue). This is a ticketed event with all proceeds going to benefit the work of Beans Café, a nonprofit that has served Anchorage’s homeless population since 1979. The mayor chose this venue to highlight the priority his administration places on addressing homelessness in Anchorage.

To reserve a seat at this morning event, which runs 7-8:30 a.m., email media@bronsontransition.com. Doors open at 6:30 a.m. and RSVP is required. Breakfast will be served.

Later in the day, Bronson will hold a free public event on the Delaney Park Strip (between I and G street) from 5-9 p.m. This will include a ceremonial swearing in at 5:30 p.m. as well as food trucks, free soft drinks, a car show, bouncy houses, face painting, balloons for kids, a beer and wine garden and more.

The evening event is hosted by radio host Rick Rydell and includes local bands and a live performance by Sixwire, a band from Nashville, which placed second on the talent show, The Next Great American Band. They were also featured as pre-game entertainment at Super Bowl 54 in Miami.
