A large crowd is expected to once again gather at the Veterans Wall of Honor in Wasilla on Monday, May 30, to observe Memorial Day. The event, which begins at 1 p.m., typically includes, live music, prayers, addresses from political figures and veterans, and a 21-gun salute.

Located in front of the new headquarters for the Wasilla Police Department (801 N. Wasilla Fishhook Rd.), the Veterans Wall of Honor is a monument celebrating Alaska’s veterans, both living and dead.

The names of veterans who have served in the armed forces are carved into large granite panels. The Memorial Day event will honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep America free.

The Air National Guard Band of the South is scheduled to perform live before and after the ceremony. Music will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the program will start at 1 p.m. sharp.
