Attorney Quincy Bird

Alaskan Quincy Bird, born and raised in Kenai and Nikiski, is President Donald Trump’s lawyer in his highly watched Pulitzer Prize lawsuit, which has now moved to the discovery phase against the New York Times and Washington Post.

As reported by Fox News, President Donald Trump secured a significant legal win on Feb. 3 in his lawsuit against the members of the Pulitzer Prize Board.

Pulitzer board members were denied a motion, which they had hoped would shield their internal communications surrounding their decision to give a Pulitzer Prize to both The New York Times and Washington Post staff for their coverage of so-called “Russia-gate” during Trump’s initial term in office.

Bird is representing Trump during the defamation lawsuit. He is the brother of Alaskan lawyer and former Chief of Staff for Anchorage Mayor Bronson, Mario Bird, and the son of talk-show host and opinion columnist, Bob Bird.

Bird graduated from Nikiski High School in 2001, where he lettered in hockey and cross country, and played Legion baseball for the Post 20 Twins. He is a graduate of Catholic University of America and Stetson Law School.

He currently practices law at the Florida-based firm Weber, Crabb & Wein where he has been a multi-year nominee for the “Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch List,” a peer-reviewed project that designates the top 6% of private practitioners who have been practicing for less than 10 years.

“President Trump is committed to holding those who traffic in deception and fake news to account,” Bird told Fox News Digital on Feb. 3. “The defendants, hiding behind the once-prestigious Pulitzer Prizes, attempted to resurrect a left-wing hoax by giving, as well as continuing to stand by and republishing, its disgraced award to the organizations that drove the infamous ‘Russia Russia Russia’ hoax.”

“This was a defamatory scam designed to damage President Trump’s image and presidential campaign. After today’s win in court, this case will now proceed to a very thorough discovery process and President Trump is committed to seeing this case through to a just conclusion,” Bird added.

The lawsuit, filed in 2022, deals with the 2018 Pulitzer Prize that was awarded to the Times and Post for reporting on the now widely debunked allegations that Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential race.

While Special Counsel Robert Mueller failed to uncover any evidence of collusion, and the DOJ Inspector General Report outlined malfeasance by federal investigators, Pulitzer has stood by the award winners, claiming their work exemplified “deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage in the public interest that dramatically furthered the nation’s understanding of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and its connections to the Trump campaign, the President-elect’s transition team and his eventual administration.”

Trump claims the Pulitzer awards only fueled public confusion by promoting a false narrative that lied to the American public.

In December of 2024, then-President Elect Trump said the Times and Post were “exactly wrong” in their shoddy reporting on the “Russia, Russia, Russia hoax,” while numerous conservative outlets “got it right.”

“A lot of people got it right – they didn’t get anything,” he said. “They gave it to reporters that got it absolutely wrong, and now everybody admits it’s a hoax, and I want them to take back the Pulitzer Prizes and pay big damages.”

Trump added that Pulitzer has no excuse for standing by the award winners.

“I feel I have to do this,” he said. “Of course it’s a lot of money to do it, but we have to straighten out the press. Our press is very corrupt – almost as corrupt as our elections.”

Well, isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black! Trump,.the convicted felon, continual liar and bully is going to straighten out the ” corrupt press ? ” He’s still squawking that the 2020 election was corrupt? George T. Conway III described him the best as a ” shit show in a dumpster fire. ” That Bird is representing Trump only reflects poorly on Bird. But, I guess the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree. It saddens me that Trump was the best that the Republican party could put forward.
