For those thinking about running for local office in Juneau’s upcoming October election, a May 3 workshop is scheduled to help navigate the fundamentals of waging a successful campaign.
This October, Juneau voters will elect several Assembly and School Board members.
To prepare potential candidates, the City and Borough of Juneau is hosting its 11th annual “How to Run for Local Office” workshop on Saturday, May 3, from 8:45-11:30 a.m. in the CBJ Assembly Chambers (155 Heritage Way).
The workshop is designed to help educate people interested in running for local, municipal office or school board. Workshop topics include discussion of what elected officials do, how to prepare for a campaign, requirements for candidacy and the nuts and bolts of running for office. Each attendee will receive a full tool kit of information, including legal forms, references, and other resources for a local campaign.
This workshop is free. Pre-registration is encouraged at juneaulwv.org/run, although drop-ins are welcome to attend as well. For more information, email runforoffice.lwvj@gmail.com.
This workshop is sponsored by Juneau League of Women Voters, City and Borough of Juneau Clerk’s Office and the Juneau School District, with support from Juneau Public Libraries and Friends of Juneau Public Libraries.

Who in their right mind, would want to live in Juneau, let alone run for office there.
