A familiar face has taken the leadership reins of Alaska’s leading conservative think tank.

This month, Alaska Policy Forum elected Ray Kreig as the President of the Board of Directors. Kreig was a co-founder of the group in 2009.

“I am excited to lead Alaska Policy Forum into a new chapter, as we have an ambitious program in the works,” Kreig stated upon his election. “I believe Alaska needs a think tank dedicated to maximizing individual opportunities and freedom — now more than ever. As Alaska elects a new Governor in 2026, we look forward to providing research and data around important policy issues like taxes, education, and health care with the help of national partners like the State Policy Network.”

A civil engineer, Kreig also brings expertise in public lands, labor unions, energy policy and performance benchmarking to the board. He is President of R.A. Kreig & Associates, an Alaskan consulting firm formed in 1975. He is also a former president of the Chugach Electric Association Board of Directors.

Alaska Policy Forum is a free market group that publishes reports on Alaska students’ academic scores, school choice data, fiscal analysis of the state’s budget, the earnings of public employees, legislative vote trackers and much more.

The organization has always had a strong focus on education reform in a state that chronically fails to produce graduates who can read or solve math problems at grade level expectations.

As part of a national network of conservative think tanks, the group fights to limit government spending and expand constitutionally guaranteed personal liberties. Forum staff also regularly provide testimony to Alaska lawmakers on key legislation.

Famously, the forum has published the salaries of Alaska’s local and state government employees to inform voters of potential excesses. This has drawn the ire of mainstream media outlets, union bosses and government bureaucrats for years.

Ray Craig endorsed and supported the war in Ukraine and continues to fly a Ukrainian flag in his business hall.

I also endorse the Ukrainian defense against the Russian invasion……….but I don’t have a Ukrainian flag. Don’t have a Mexican flag, either…………..

Ray Craig’s first task must be to unite the party in ridding ourselves of this cretin call Lisa Murkowski.

Who is going to run for governor in 2030? Ray Kreig or Bethany Marcum?
