A coalition of left-leaning Alaska nonprofits have joined thousands more nationwide in signing a letter condemning the Trump administration’s efforts to expose domestic terrorist groups and disrupt their dangerous activities.

In particular the letter takes issue with Trump’s Sept. 25 memorandum, which directs federal agencies to investigate nonprofits and individuals that allegedly support or fund domestic terrorism.

Trump’s directive notes that certain movements in the United States portray foundational American principles, such as immigration enforcement and border control, as “fascist” to justify and encourage acts of violent revolution.

“This ‘anti-fascist’ lie has become the organizing rallying cry used by domestic terrorists to wage a violent assault against democratic institutions, constitutional rights, and fundamental American liberties,” Trump wrote. “Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality.”

In addition to investigating groups that foment these ideas, the Trump administration has cut public taxpayer funding for ideologically driven entities that push climate alarmism, abortion, DEI, critical race theory, LGBTQ gender ideology and suspect immigration practices.

The protest letter against Trump’s actions was signed by the following Alaska groups: Alaska Children’s Trust, Alaska Clean Water Advocacy, Alaska Community Action on Toxics, Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center, Alaska Wilderness League, Southeast Alaska Conservation Council, The Alaska Center, Trustees for Alaska, Native Movement, Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition and Homer Council on the Arts.

The letter concludes by asserting that Trump is focusing on groups with which he disagrees, and claims that is “un-American” and a violation of the First Amendment.

  • Joe Drayton says:

As non profits these groups should welcome review of their “books”. If not what are they trying to hide. Simple as that. Obviously there is a reason the spot light is on these groups. After the Democrats weaponizing the Federal government since Obama in 2009 to current times, it falls on deaf ears about the left cry baby comments. Especially for non profits, whose guidelines required by the IRS are responsible to have all of their monies and actions available for over site and review.

    • Jonathan Hicks says:

      Well said!

    • Here I. Am says:

Um, Joe, you are right. Non-profits are required to have substantial IRS oversight. Quick question – Is the Trump family required of the same? Also, you do know the trump presidency was included in your timeline, right?

  • Doug glenn says:

I agree Joe they should be thoroughly audited yearly. If they are screaming about transparency for non profits they are guilty of something.

    • Here I. Am says:

Doug, they already are. Please read through the IRS regulations for NPO designation. What it won’t tell you is what private business is guilty of???

  • shane holt says:

so commie liars are huffy about exposing facts.
nothing new about these lying worms.

    • Here I. Am says:

shane, both sides use “facts” to promote their agenda. Do you support the full transparency of the Epstein files?

  • Ed says:

The probe is NOT un-American. Whomever is found to be funding/sponsoring all this upheaval and violence, need to ultimately be held responsible. When there’s destruction of property by these so-called non-violent (paid) protestors, then the bill needs to be sent to the funders/sponsors/NGOs. Taxpayers and customers should never be expected to pay for property destruction and victim hospital bills. Representatives need to pass laws that will make that happen.

    • Here I. Am says:

Ed, there is very limited violence here. You are succumbing to fear-mongering. All of this violence talk is rubbish. Speak to people in these places.

  • Manny Mullen says:

“investigate nonprofits and individuals that allegedly support or fund domestic terrorism.” Allegedly is the operative concept. Maybe the DOJ should investigate the NRA for domestic terrorism since they have been influential funders of assault weapons that so mangled a 7 year old at Uvalde that she was identified only by her shoes.

    • Rod Smith says:

Do you own any firearms? Do your firearms jump up and murder people? Should we ban cars because some psychos drive them into crowds?

      • Here I. Am says:

That is a tired argument. Do you need an assault rifle to protect your family from home invasion? Unless you are hunkered down, NOPE. I’ve served. You don’t need it.

  • Rod Smith says:

We need to remember these “non profits.” Why are they so concerned? Hiding something? Or trying to help other orgs hide something?

    GO PATEL! GO TRUMP!

    • Here I. Am says:

(trump whispering to the PM of Indonesia), pssst, hey, I’ll have Eric give you a call. We can make this deal work. Hmmmm…

  • Herman Nelson says:

“Accuse the other side of what you are guilty of”.
It’s interesting to learn that communists -er democrats have been using taxpayer money to fund NGOs through USAID to destroy our own country. No more.

    • Here I. Am says:

Herman, you do know that democrats (communists) are trying to get healthcare less expensive, right? I’m curious, how much money do you think that THIS Administration has sent to Israel?

  • Penny Johnson says:

It’s well known that Communist Soros funded Arabella, 1630 Fund & Hopewell are monetarily supporting all of these Marxist anti-family, anti-faith, anti-education groups. Follow the money.

    • Here I. Am says:

Penny, I don’t think you really understand what you are saying. I think what you are saying is that they are funding groups against YOUR IDEA of family, religion, education. Is there a different idea?

  • Penny Johnson says:

So apparently your weapons background check laws aren’t working . . . “threats against women online, a fascination with school shootings, and committing animal cruelty.
Weapon acquisition: In the days following his 18th birthday, Ramos legally purchased two AR-15-style rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.” No matter what obfuscation you toss out there Manny, you’re always on the losing side of the argument.

    • Here I. Am says:

Penny, It makes me sad as a human that you classify Manny’s argument as a losing side. He stated a 7-yr old lost their life and was identified by her SHOES. Let that sink in.

    • Here I. Am says:

I have a great idea… what if we banned weapons of war (ie. assault rifles)? That may help. More soon.

  • Here I. Am says:

Maybe ban assault rifles. Just a thought…

  • Here I. Am says:

Penny, my comments are being censored. I’m sorry.
