After overcoming a few obstacles, the Turning Point USA chapter at Mat-Su College has been officially approved by the university.

“It’s official! The Turning Point Matsu chapter is up and running,” an online notice from chapter organizers states. “Bring your passion, interests, and ideas to our first meeting on Tuesday, October 21st as we discuss our vision for the chapter. Non-students are welcome, so bring all your friends!”

The Mat-Su chapter is one of many new TPUSA groups that have launched across Alaska colleges and high schools in the wake of last month’s murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

The Mat-Su group initially had difficulty finding a faculty sponsor for their chapter with most teachers refusing to support the conservative organization on campus.

After finally securing a sponsor, the group was approved by the student government.

A trio of young-adult siblings, Hudson, Wilson and Ainsley Ladd, founded the local chapter, and they are encouraging the wider public to attend any of the chapter meetings at Mat-Su College. The inaugural meeting will be Oct. 21, 6-7:30 p.m. in Snodgrass Hall, Room 118.

Turning Point USA is a nationwide organization that advocates for conservative politics, traditional values and Christian faith on high school, college, and university campuses. It was founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during a college speaking event in Utah.

  • Dehab Tesfalem says:

with a public invitation like that, the average age of the attendees is gonna be like 77.

  • Erick Gilmore says:

will come to find a new trad-wife 🙂

I mean colleges will let the Nazis organize in groups.
It just gives everyone around them a clear viewpoint of who the fake-christian haters are. It’s a great thing when the kkk guys have their hoods removed and people can see who they are. So I’m all for Totally Public Racis….err Turning Point Republican groups everywhere!

K, so if you question my values/authenticity, see my other posts

got one video of kirk saying anything racist.
nahhh you dont but you heard some stoned left wing idiot say so.
      gotta be true
      right?

BUT, this is a good thing. Providing a voice for opinions is a good thing.

HIA, it definitely IS a good thing. Could you direct me to the left/liberal Alaska news website that will allow me to comment openly as a Conservative?
      I’ll wait……

Wouldn’t it be great if we all embraced the value of opinion without hate?

I hope my previous comment about moderating “h@te” make it through the filter.

  • Here I. Am says:

oops, looks like it didn’t. That’s sad AND unfortunate.

  • Tim says:

I think that tpusa posting a flyer right next to the GSA flyer and then posting a picture of it only next to that one in particular in their photo album is saying lot about how the group feels towards gay straight alliance

  • Penny Johnson says:

    Happy birthday Mat-Su Turning Point!
Good for Mat-Su College and good for us.
Charlie Kirk stood for non-violent discourse, autonomy among our youth, faith, family and freedom May the new MSC chapter make him proud!

  • Theodore Lang says:

it’s too bad Tpusa is starting off in the wrong foot though. You would think a club trying to establish itself wouldn’t have to falsify it’s papers to get up and running. let alone post a distasteful photo of its flyer right next to Gay Straight Alliance club’s and no one else’s club flyer. Strange start.
