Gov. Mike Dunleavy hopes the upcoming Alaska March for Life will be the largest pro-life gathering in the history of the state.
“I am honored to offer my strong support for the 2026 Alaska March for Life, taking place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Anchorage,” Dunleavy wrote in a letter dated Feb. 6. “The question of how we treat the most vulnerable among us is one of the most profound moral issues of our time. For many Alaskans – across faith traditions, political affiliations, and walks of life – the protection of unborn children reflects a deeply held belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every human life, including those yet to take their first breath. I share that belief.”
Pro-life advocates, including churches, private schools and other groups are coordinating outreach and organizational efforts to promote the event and enlist participants.
Momentum is building for what will prayerfully be the largest gathering of “rescuers” in Alaska history,” a recent email alert from Alaska Family Council noted.
Alaska Family Council staffer KyLeah Mindala is urging pro-life advocates to invite as many people as possible to joint the march Facebook group where people can receive event details and updates, learn how to get involved and invite others, connect with fellow supporters across Alaska and stay encouraged and engaged leading up to the march
“The more people we reach, the stronger and more unified our voice will be,” Mindala noted.
Dunleavy said he hopes the planned march will unite the pro-life community across Alaska.
“Alaska has a long tradition of valuing life, family, and personal responsibility,” he stated. “The Alaska March for Life provides an opportunity for citizens of all denominations and political stripes to come together peacefully and respectfully to affirm that every life matters and that compassion should guide our laws, our culture, and our communities.”
Dunleavy framed the march as an opportunity to show a united front in support of those in need.
“The Alaska March for Life in not about division, it is about unity. It is about standing together in hope, offering support to mothers and families, and advocating for a future where both women and children are valued and protected,” he said. “I encourage Alaskans from every corner of our Great State to participate, pray, reflect, and make their voices heard in a spirit of respect and conviction.”
Dunleavy’s letter concluded by thanking the organizers of the event.

“Thank you to the organizations, volunteers and participants who are working tirelessly to make this event the biggest pro-life gathering in our state’s history,” he said. “Their commitment to life strengthens Alaska and reminds us that principled leadership begins with ordinary citizens willing to stand up for what they believe is right. May God bless this March, and may God continue to bless the Great State of Alaska.”
Due to Alaska Supreme Court rulings, which have struck down nearly every pro-life law ever passed in Alaska, the state remains one of the most pro-abortion in the nation. Over the past few years, over 1,200 abortions have occurred annually in Alaska with the state paying for more than 500 of these killings in 2024 through its publicly funded Denali KidCare program.
