Anchorage’s Municipal Clerk is reminding voters to register or update their voter information on or before Sunday, March 8, deadline.

If a voter’s information has changed since they last voted, they must update this with the State of Alaska Division of Elections by Sunday, March 8, in order for the change to take effect in time for the upcoming Anchorage election. Updates provided during the 2026 PFD application process will not be processed in time.

Since the election is a mail-in affair, ballots will be sent to voters’ homes, which means updated addresses are important.

Ballot packages will be mailed to qualified, registered voters on March 17 – three weeks before Election Day. Voters must then return their ballot to a secure drop box, an Anchorage Vote Center (AVC), or by mailing it through the USPS with first-class postage. Specific hours and locations for Drop Boxes and AVCs can be found here.

Any qualified Alaska voter and Anchorage resident at least 17 years and nine months old may register, but they must be 18 years old by April 7 in order to cast a ballot.

Voter registration applications are online, here. For more information about registering to vote, call the State of Alaska, Division of Elections at 907-522-8683.

In the April election, six seats are up for grabs on the 12-member Anchorage Assembly, and two seats on the School Board. Information about where the candidates stand on key issues can be viewed here.

False alarm! No need to get registered! It’s all mail in. No need for identification. Go to post offices and gather ballots on the shelves, recycle cans, and the floor. Repeatedly sign them and throw them into the ballot boxes! Also no need to worry about being timely as they will extend the date for weeks! This efficient system is brought to you by the Dunleavy administration! Nancy Dahlstrom is who you can thank personally!
