Sometimes you have to look for a story, sometimes it finds you. Today in Homer, I encountered a despicable organization called the 907 Initiative. I first ran into this group a year ago, when they covertly attempted to influence Representative Sarah Vance to support a piece of legislation. I wrote about that here.
I suggested at the time that their efforts violated tax law because, as a tax-exempt organization under IRS Section 501(c)(4), they are limited in the activities they may engage in. C4 organizations are supposed to have a social welfare mandate and operate in a public education role. Political campaigns are not supposed to be their primary activity. However, anyone who has visited their website will understand that the 907 Initiative is nothing more than a political lobbying organization, run by liberal partisans, with the intent of attacking conservatives and covertly advancing a leftist agenda under the pretext of “education.” They pretend to educate people but are actually acting like a Political Action Committee, pushing left-wing politics and attacking conservatives who oppose the Democrats.
I thought we had seen the last of them in Homer, but today I was visited by one of their representatives, who looked very much like the image that I had Grok Ai draw at the top of this article, mirrored sunglasses and all. The intent of this woman’s visit was to attack Senator Dan Sullivan in support of Mary Peltola, but she used a very deceptive way of trying to influence me.
They pretend to be nonpartisan but break their tax-exempt status when their only purpose is to go into the community and attempt to influence us to support left-wing politicians.
The young woman came to my front door and introduced herself. She said that she was from the 907 Initiative and conducting a poll. She asked me what my number one area of concern was in this year’s election. I started talking until I realized she was totally uninterested in my views and was simply waiting for me to stop so she could start her spiel.
When she did so, she asked me whether I was aware of all the bad votes Senator Sullivan has taken that have hurt Alaska. She went on describing these votes in a very biased political way. One item in particular I remember was her asking if I was aware that Senator Sullivan opposed clean energy and voted against it. I asked her to clarify, and she said he voted against renewable energy projects in Alaska, like wind and solar, and asked me what I thought. I honestly told her I thought that wind and solar are the most expensive forms of energy available. They have relatively short operating lives and generate a significant amount of end-of-life waste, such as wind turbine blades that often end up in landfills. I told her that solar panel waste contains heavy metals and makes a toxic mess when disposed of. Besides being expensive, they are one of the most polluting forms of energy there is. They don’t work at night, or if the wind doesn’t blow, and if Senator Sullivan voted against them, that was alright by me.
She didn’t care for my comments very much, and it was clear from her slanted spiel that this woman’s mandate was to attack Senator Sullivan in support of his Democrat opponent, Mary Peltola. Although, to be fair, the woman never mentioned Mary Peltola by name, it was clear what the point of the visit was. The woman was about to leave when I asked her one last question. I asked her to confirm that she worked for the 907 Initiative, to which she replied that she did, and then I asked her who provided the funding for her organization. Just before she walked off in a huff, she told me that I could find that information on their website, and that was the end of her visit.
ALASKA WATCHMAN DIRECT TO YOUR INBOX
Only she wasn’t being honest. I checked the website for the 907 Initiative. You can reach their website here. Nowhere on it does it say what their funding sources are. They are a secretive organization, likely funded through some sort of elaborate chain of NGO’s designed to keep the source of the money opaque and prevent citizens like you and me from finding out who is really trying to influence us. The upstream source of their funding is likely some wealthy individual like George Soros, who wants to covertly influence politics in Alaska on behalf of the Democrat party without being named.
The fact of the matter is that the 907 Initiative is a despicable partisan organization that favors left-wing politicians and their policies. They pretend to be nonpartisan but break their tax-exempt status when their only purpose is to go into the community and attempt to influence us to support left-wing politicians.
You know the Democrats are desperate when they use dirty political tricks to support Mary Peltola’s Senate run. Last week, they tried to run a candidate using the same last name as Senator Sullivan. This week, they are using the phony pollster scam. These are the same kind of deceptive practices you see from Democrats in leftist strongholds like California and Chicago. With respect to the 907 Initiative, one of Senator Sullivan’s Washington DC staffers should turn them into the IRS. They are acting outside their remit as a 501(c)(4) non-profit and should lose their tax-exempt status for doing so.

Why is Sarber so hurt by very common, very basic tactics to get out the vote? Republicans do the same thing. No big deal.
Already through the 4th level of funding groups and gave up going down that rabbit hole. Really want to make it difficult who is behind the funding. AK Corporate database lists them: Entity Type: Nonprofit Corporation Entity #: 10205046 Status: Good Standing AK Formed Date: 8/23/2022.
1. Amber Lee Director, Secretary 2. Carey Fristoe Director, Treasurer 3. Debra Call Director, Vice President 4. Eleanor Andrews Director, President.
NAICS Code: 813410 – CIVIC AND SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS
Purpose: The Corporation is organized exclusively to promote social welfare within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (or the corresponding provision of any future federal tax law), and to further both common good and general welfare of Alaskans through education and efforts to ensure that the public in Alaska has access to quality, reliable information about issues of public concern. The corporation shall never be operated for the primary purpose of carrying on a trade or business for profit. YEAH, RIGHT!
While you’re voting in the next election for Dan. Please Vote Yes on prop #2 to eliminate RCV.
Excellent article. Thank you. When I am approached on the street by Political types, pollsters, signature for a petition gathers, I always ask to see their Drivers License. To date after about ten plus encounters with these types, no one has ever produced a drivers license. For me if you cannot produce an Alaska Drivers license then you do not deserve my time.
This just shows you that people are dumb enough to waste their time listening to garbage from the NGOs.
Fred, which of these do you think are garbage?

You wasted all your time typing that out just to have me tell you 99.9%of everything you named can be eliminated!!
As was said. NGO’s are nothing more than slush funds for liberal causes. My question is why these groups have not been turned into the IRS? They lie with a blink of the eye. The people against ending ranked choice voting accuses us as wanting to bring in “dark money!” This is laughable for a group that brought in 12 million dollars of dark money against the last effort to $150,000 raised by local Alaskans. Then they talk about us wanting to go back to “closed primaries.” Once again more lies. The previous primary was an “open primary.,” not closed. In the Republican Primary everyone but Democrats, Green Party, etc. could vote in our primary. That means Undeclared, non-partisan and even Libertarians! They lie because they know if voters knew the real truth they would lose.Judy
These environmentalists really work for China. We are a Christian nation and always have been. As Christians we know that God created the heavens and the earth “in the Beginning….”God did not make mistakes that the environmental movement or whatever name they use are trying to correct.. China wants to sell us windmills and panels without regarding the damage they do to wild animals. Meanwhile China is building nuclear power plants which are the most efficient and less costly than panels and windmills.
“…….today I was visited by one of their representatives, who looked very much like the image that I had Grok Ai draw at the top of this article……..”
Purple hair?
I filled out an email survey. The last question in the survey was what issues were important, and gave three options. Two of the options were already checked and could not be unchecked. I guess the survey was really intended to allow them to claim Alaskans think their preferred issues, and their preferred preferences on those issues, were favored by the majority of those polled.
Taking up excessive space on comment sections of news outlets is what a crap-headed fool does. I scrolled to get past it and almost got a blister on my finger! Good news is I’m not like Singh, he clearly has a blister for a brain!
Good one Greg. Clever, creative, hard-hitting, shrewd and astute.
Ewig. I am so sorry for the cognitive process that allows you to make such claims, like, “These environmentalists really work for China”. If I couldn’t tell fact from wish, I’d be unable to function, unable to pay for groceries or drive a car. It must be debilitating. I could suggest neutral news sources and sites where scientific conclusions are presented, but lacking the cognitive neural pathway, it would likely prohibit you from understanding.
