The official campaign arm of Democrats in the U.S. House has targeted Alaska voters in an effort to help leftist Bill Hill replace conservative Congressman Nick Begich.
Hill, who claims to be an “independent,” has the full backing of the powerful and well-funded Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which is led by hard-leftist Democrat House Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Adding Hill to its “Red to Blue” program is part of the DCCC’s larger goal of flipping Congress to the political left.
While Hill has made attempts to publicly distance himself from the Democratic Party, the DCCC sees him as a key to its push to regain majority control over the U.S. House.

In supporting Hill, the DCCC can utilize its ample funds and strategic support to further its stated goal, which is “dedicated to electing Democrats to the U.S. House of Representatives.”
According to the DCCC’s website, it is “the only political committee in the country whose principal mission is to support Democratic House candidates every step of the way.”
Republicans immediately pounced on the DCCC’s support, claiming it “blows Bill Hill’s cover.”
“The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee officially added Hill to the Red to Blue program, ripping off Hill’s independent mask and confirming that he’s just a far-left stooge of the Lower 48 Left,” said Nick Poche, the Western Regional Communications Director for the Republican National Committee. “There is zero doubt now that Bill Hill is and always was a Democrat. Hill would be a reliable vote for the far-left Lower 48 agenda and will never put Alaskans first.”
Earlier this summer, Hill refused to say whether he’d caucus with the Democrats if elected to the U.S. House.
“The caucus itself or the decision with whom you’re going to caucus or vote into leadership is really important leverage when you get to Congress,” Hill said during a June interview with Alaska’s News Source. “I will maintain that the people that I will be working with in Congress are the people who are going to be working to drive down the cost of health care … realize that public education is an important institution in our nation”
“Those are the people I’m going to work for,” he added. “I am actually caucusing with the Alaska people.”
When pressed by reporter Wil Courtney on whether he would side with Democrats, Hill responded: “I guess we’ll find out when the election comes.”
Apparently that answer was crystal clear for leading Democrats in D.C.

Republicans have repeatedly warned that if Hill replaces Begich, Alaska will lose a key ally in Trump’s federal efforts to help increase energy production, leasing, and resource development across Alaska.
At the same time, they warn that Hill would most likely fall in line with Biden-era green-energy policy, which would threaten oil-and-gas jobs, deplete state revenue and undermine long-term resource development throughout the state.
Last month, Begich won the primary with 44.6% of the overall vote, while Hill finished second with 32.5%. The general election is set for Nov. 3.
