The conservative grassroots advocacy group, Americans for Prosperity Action-Alaska (AFP Action-Alaska), announced its endorsement of six candidates for the Alaska State House of Representatives – including three non-incumbents.
AFP is a national organization with local branches that promote limited government, free markets, lower taxes, reduced regulation and spending, school choice, and criminal-justice reform.
“AFP Action-Alaska and our statewide network of grassroots activists are excited to support these outstanding leaders for the State House,” said Kevin Green, AFP Action-Alaska’s senior advisor. “These endorsements are part of our ongoing vision to reshape our legislature into the nation’s most effective and principled governing body. We’re counting on them to get government out of the way so our state’s economy can flourish, and hardworking Alaskans can achieve their American Dream.”
On Sept. 25, AFP Action endorsed the following candidates in the lead up to the Nov. 4 election.
ENDORSED CANDIDATES
— State Rep. Sarah Vance (Homer): “Sarah Vance is a leader on energy policy in Juneau, where she cosponsored a bill banning restrictive regulations over new projects and supported the construction of a new natural gas pipeline,” the endorsement stated. “She has a strong voting record on improving Alaska’s health care system, including her co-sponsorship of legislation to repeal the state’s certificate of need laws.”
— John Boyle (R-South Anchorage): “As the former Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, John Boyle will be a valuable voice on energy issues in the capital from day one, where he will work to expand and smartly deregulate the industry,” AFP-Action Alaska noted. “He also serves as an executive at a tech start-up, giving him a forward-thinking perspective on innovative technologies that will bring new jobs and investment to Alaska.”
— State Rep. Julie Coulombe (R-Anchorage): “Coulombe is a proven policy leader on labor, who has led efforts to reduce licensing requirements for childcare providers,” the endorsement noted. “She has supported numerous bills to eliminate burdensome taxes and grow Alaska’s energy sector to bolster America’s energy independence.”
— State Rep. Mia Costello (R-Anchorage): “Costello is a steadfast advocate for the construction of a new natural gas pipeline and other key energy projects,” AFP-Alaska Action observed. “She is a fiscal conservative who will always support budgets that ensure that Alaska spends within its means.”
— Daniel Sager (R-Anchorage): “Sager is ready to tackle labor issues on day one in the legislature,” AFP-Alaska Action stated. “He is a strong supporter of deregulation of the energy and resource extraction industries to unlock Alaska’s full economic potential.”
— Harmony Tomaszewski (R-Fairbanks): “Tomaszewski is a hardworking AFP Action-Alaska activist who is strongly in favor of building new liquid natural gas pipelines in the state,” the endorsement said. “She carries an ‘all-of-the-above’ approach to different kinds of projects to maximize Alaska’s energy production and job growth.”
