The Alaska Republican Party is training poll watchers and special monitors to help ensure the upcoming general election isn’t undermined by voter fraud or human error.

Over the next few days, would-be Republican volunteers are invited to attend one of the many online training sessions offered via Zoom.

“Protecting the vote starts with you,” a notice about the upcoming sessions states. “Your participation is critical to ensuring elections in Alaska are fair and secure. Become a Republican Poll Watcher by joining us for our next training session.”

During the training sessions, participants will learn how polling places operate, how to observe key polling place procedures, and how to report any issues that may arise.

Additionally, several online workshops will train special poll monitors, giving them an overview of ballot processing, chains of custody, electronic voting systems and canvassing procedures.

“This is your chance to support your community while playing a vital role in safeguarding our democracy,” the notice states.
