Fairbanks residents will have three opportunities this week to pray and protest for an end to abortion.
The first event invites pro-life residents to hold signs and pray on street corners across the city on Jan. 22, which marks the 47th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion across the nation. Since the 1973 ruling, 65 million unborn babies have been killed through abortion.
For roughly 40 years Bible Baptist Church has organized this city-wide prayer effort which looks to station pro-lifers on busy street corners throughout the town. Participants are invited to bring signs to various locations of their choosing, and pray from 12-2 p.m.
Two days later, on Jan. 24, pro-life advocates in Fairbanks will again protest the practice of abortion during two separate gatherings at the Cushman Street Bridge. During these event participants can warm up at Immaculate Conception Church. The first gathering at the bridge will be from 11 a.m. to noon. The second is from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
