The annual five-day Chugiak-Eagle River Bear Paw Festival is underway and picking up steam heading into the weekend.

Contestants race during the Slippery Salmon Olympics.

The robust celebration of local community features its main parade on Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. with scores of additional activities running through Sunday, including hometown music, games, Golden Wheel Carnival rides, food trucks, vendors and much more.

Sponsored by the Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with local businesses, the popular event includes multiple live bands, a cornhole tournament, trivia night, motorcycle show, Lego competition, classic car show, beer garden, horse drawn carriage rides, face painting, the Slippery Salmon Olympics, karate demonstrations, foosball tournament, ice cream eating contest and more.

Unlike a typical fenced-in fair, the Bear Paw vendor court and carnival are stationed Business Blvd., but multiple activities are spread throughout the Eagle River area. To find out specific locations for events and activities, click here.
