The debate – both nationally and here in Alaska – over parental rights has made one thing abundantly clear. The hard left sees conservative, Christian parents as a threat to the health and wellbeing of gender confused children.
On the national level, House Republicans passed legislation this week to ensure that schools don’t keep parents in the dark about school sex-ed curriculum or their child’s gender identity. Rep. Mary Peltola joined her Democratic colleagues in calling the bill a threat to children. Of course, the only threat they could possibly be referring to is parents who don’t agree with the LGBTQ agenda pushed by educators on impressionable young minds.
Locally, the same debate is unfolding over Gov. Dunleavy’s House Bill 105, which aims to strengthen parental rights in much the same way. Planned Parenthood claims the governor’s proposed bill endangers students.

This view of mothers and fathers, as a threat to their own children, stems from a belief that parents are not endowed with the fundamental right and duty to care for, educate and raise their children in accord with their deeply held moral and religious beliefs. If these beliefs run contrary to the radical woke ideologies that have infected our public school systems, educators want the ability to hide information from parents so that they can indoctrinate their children without mom or dad ever knowing.
Now that the mask has slipped, and their animus toward families is on open display, we must force the left to defend the indefensible. If they believe conservative, Christian parents are a great danger to children, they must be made to explain this – in detail and on record – amid the full light of day.
If you want to be a part of this great debate, be sure to participate in the public hearing on HB 105 – details here.
