The Mat-Su Borough has a number of proven conservatives running for borough offices on Nov. 5. In an effort to improve voter turnout, the borough moved its elections to coincide with the day of the General Election.

In the six contests that include more than one candidate vying for victory, these are the men and women the Alaska Watchman believes are the most conservative options.

— Mayor: Edna DeVries

— Assembly District 3: Dolores K. “Dee” McKee

— Assembly District 6: Dmitri Fonov

— Assembly District 7: Ron Bernier

— School Board District 1: Thomas E. Bergey
