Colony Days is a 90-year-old family-friendly event celebrating the original farming colony that established Palmer in 1935. The event attracts thousands of attendees for parades, games, music, car shows, craft fairs, tractor pulls, reindeer rides and various other festivities to honor the community’s founding.

This year, however, a hard-leftist and politically divisive, anti-Trump brigade plans to harness the popularity of the event in order to interject a long litany of grievances against the president and his conservative policies.

Spearheaded by a group called Mat-Su United for Progress, the protesters are part of a nationally-organized movement called “No Kings,” which is comprised of a coalition of radical activists on the extreme left. Click here to read more about their plans for other Alaska towns.

According to Mat-Su United for Progress, this group had plans to march in the parade, where thousands of people will be watching in the overwhelmingly conservative Mat-Su. The activists were all set to wave anti-Trump signs, claiming the president is a despotic and tyrannical ruler who considers himself king of America.

The group had been planning to make signs on Friday, June 13, at Bleeding Heart Brewery, but have since been told by management that they are not welcome to use the brewery for this purpose.

“We were never informed, involved, or complicit in any ‘poster making party,'” brewery cofounder Zack Lanphier told the Watchman. “They simply chose to list us on their own as their meeting place and create this entire situation. I found out about it yesterday and immediately contacted the organizers and had us removed and cancel any meet up at BHB. While I do not know where they will be meeting for their party, I can say it won’t be at BHB.”

While Mat-Su United for Progress has been instructed not to carry signs during the actual parade, they will still be marching down main street, after which they plan to bring out their “No Kings” political protest signage and take to the crowded streets near the Glenn and Palmer-Wasilla Highways with the aim “to continue our message in a more public and politically visible way.”

What are you worried about? Afraid protesters will reveal that Trump is not the sharpest bulb?

    • No Womanny says:

Funny how goblin interlopers like Manny here think coming into a peace loving celebration and interrupting it with political grandstanding is going to somehow help advance the cause.
There are those trying to make the best of their lives with the power given to them by the Creator and there are those like Manny who have nothing but hate for the Creation because he doesn’t have any real value within himself.
Don’t be a Manny. Carry on living your lives as you see fit. Manny will suffer the consequences of attempting to ruin other peoples lives in due time.

      • Manny Mullen says:

That’s pretty harsh. Fortunately I’m an atheist so not under your religion’s silly spell.

      • No Womanny says:

Yes Goblin Manny, it is quite apparent that you are an atheist. That is why you behave the way you do. You have been disconnected for so long that have no other choice but to cling to illusion and sleep in a bed of comfortable lies.
It’s ok Goblin Manny. You will eventually see the truth. Maybe not in this life time, and maybe not even in the next, but eventually your soul will yearn to advance to the next level of reality and you will finally decide to end your cycles of separation, fear, loss and hate.
Good luck to you Brother Goblin, for with the perspective you have adopted shall only allow you to see trouble. May you have peace if you choose to see the Light.

    • Boris says:

Most Definitely Not, all of you are mentally ill. You wanted us put in camps and people’s children taken just a few years ago, don’t think we have forgot! Eye for an eye!

    • SH says:

who’s worried. we welcome fools to prove what they are.
note these fools were absent during bidens rants to jail trump. hypocrites at best.
      but they are 100% fools.

  • David Jones says:

Simply because one doesn’t support convicted felon, charity cheater, bully and grifter Donald Trump does not make one a radical. It makes one a conservative who supports the constitution, due process and rule of law.

    • David Jones Locker says:

You know, Trump has never attacked people like me. The ones who are attacking people like me are you David. You are the threat, you are the instigator, you are the criminal from my perspective.
If you and people like you were chill and could learn to get along with freedom and liberty, then maybe Trump would have not been elected, but you and your goblin friends left us with no other choice but to elect Trump as a clear message to you. We don’t want what you are offering. Go back to your cave.

  • Sally M Pollen says:

Okay, thanks for the good wake-up article. “No Kings”, huh? How about, “One King”, and that would be King Jesus.
I’m expecting a huge turn-out of people and floats to confirm the Valley’s moral and politically conservative reputation. We have built this Valley over decades by prayer, electing Christian leaders and joining together to push back agendas that do not align with Godly principles or even common sense. This valley is a beautiful place to live and prosper and I’m ready to do my part to keep it that way.

Hey, So Not sure it will matter at this point, but as the owner of BHB, We were never informed, involved, or complicit in any “poster making party”. They simply chose to list us on their own as their meeting place and create this entire situation. I found out about it yesterday and immediately contacted the organizers. While I do not know where they will be meeting for their party, I Can say it won’t be at BHB. If you could remove that part of the post, l’d really appreciate it, thanks!!

    • Elizabeth Henry says:

Enough people know you and your business and would not expect the misguided protest to be your thing. What gaul the ‘organizers’ have to think it is ok to just crash someone’s establishment with their agenda.

    • LJ says:

      Glad to hear Zach !

    • Charlotte says:

Zack, I think Joel may simply be further highlighting how dishonest these out of town, loser, drug addicted, fake, paid protestors are. Your reputation is intact. The fact that they came to your door further shows that they really are not even as organized as they would have us think.

  • Tamra Nygaard says:

Best course of action with these half-wits is to ignore them. Not sure what they hope to accomplish, but they won’t.

  • Proud Alaskan says:

Remember when these, same leftist groups tried to change the name, Palmer Colony Days.
To some lame, out of touch name, that had nothing in common, with what Palmer was built on.
If they think they can raise hell here in Palmer. They better watch out because every other person, might be packing like most Alaskans. We need to stand up to this bull.

    • Manny Mullen says:

Stand up to what? They are the embodiment of the first amendment.

      • Proud Alaskan says:

To these ILLEGALS that trump is kicking out of our country and these Radical leftists we have in this country trying to tear down America.

  • SH says:

hope they wear name tags so we know who these errant fools are. watch kids giggle at them with their ” king” signs.
    utterly ridiculous.

  • Ed says:

Their slogan is made up in their heads. These people will say and do anything that will cause division; — and all from the communist playbook.

  • Johnny says:

    Commies.

  • Sandra Oden says:

As long as they don’t destroy anything or tie up traffic, they’re ok. The problem with that is, it doesn’t seem very radical. . .but that’s their problem.

  • Eva says:

America was founded after we fought a real king, and now we have a President, that is voted in by the people. (Other then the previous “president”, who got into power by cheating). In America everyone has the right to protest against anything that concerns them. We do not have a king that will chop your head off if you do. I hope all these folks that protest our way of governing, brush up on their history, and learn to appreciate their freedoms, for which others bled and died for. The people who fund these movements to destroy America became rich, because of the freedom they have in this wonderful country, where they can do free enterprise, like the current owner of WalMart. It is kind of like sawing off the branch, on which you sit !
