Alaska Family Council is one of the leading organizations in Alaska that fights for the unborn, defends traditional marriage and advocates for parental rights. Next month the faith-based nonprofit will partner with Imperial Independent Media to host a training program for prospective candidates and campaign supporters.

The sessions are designed to help interested candidates answer two critical questions when it comes to running and winning a political campaign: “Why and how?”

“Preparing Christians to run for elected office at the state and local level is something Alaska Family Council has been doing since our founding in 2006,” said Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery. “Serving in the mission field of government, now more than ever, is a high calling and a great need.”

The two-day course will occur May 13-14 at Anchorage Grace Church. Presenters will include Zach Freeman, the CEO/Managing Partner of  Imperial Independent Media, Joseph Backholm, a Senior Fellow for Biblical Worldview & Strategic Engagement at Family Research Council, and Bruce Ann Smith, former media relations senior vice president for Alliance Defending Freedom.

In a notice about the sessions, Minnery offered encouragement to candidates who recently lost hard fought campaigns in Alaska.

“For my brothers and sisters-in-Christ who have recently or in the past came up short in your campaigns to get elected, keep pressing,” Minnery said. “God’s timing is perfect, and he still has wonderful plans for you ahead.”
