The upcoming Alaska Leadership Academy, which aims to promote “right of center” leaders is now taking applications for its inaugural program to train, inform, equip and connect experienced and emerging leaders in Alaska.

Sponsored by Alaska Policy Forum, the program looks at how enduring political and moral principles apply to contemporary Alaska challenges.

Alaska Policy Forum CEO Bethany Marcum said graduates of the program will “learn and grow as leaders within a strong peer network whose members can lead on positive and meaningful changes within our state.”

Beginning Oct. 15, the academy consists of eight monthly sessions at various hotel venues in the Southcentral and Anchorage area.

Course curriculum will be presented by experts from around the country and Alaska, and will include topics such as America’s founding principles, Alaska’s constitution, ethical leadership, on-camera media training, and defending capitalism and the free market.

All state residents who are motivated and dedicated to make a difference in Alaska are welcome to apply. Applications and letters of recommendation must be submitted by e-mail no later than August 10.

With Alaska Policy Forum sponsoring this event it cannot help but be highly informative and politically valuable to those of us who see the great need for ethical leadership in Alaska. It could produce delegates to a state Constitutional Convention if voters will pass that measure on the ballot this fall.

This is a good idea and should be matched with participants that will grow in an effort to give strong voices and energy to the actions of the state and government. Definitely will broaden thinking and results of what we contend with in issues today here in Alaska. This is for everyone, because truth matters.
